Ok ladies, I have heard many things about many types of birth control. So far, I have only tried the pill. There are many types of pills and I've heard they cause weight gain. About the shot, I've heard that it can cause infertility. And well, there is the patch, haven't heard much about it, other than it costs more. So, what type do you recommend, from personal experiences? Is there one I'm missing, besides the other contraceptives?

Well I take Mercette it's a pill and I got it from Planned Parenthood it was free!!

LOL! I was also thinking that when I posted, I'm on Estrostep. Ryan and I have been talking about birth control for a while, but I couldn't decide which would be best, until I had an emergency doctor's visit a couple weeks ago, and she put me back on birth control. Anyone having complications with theirs?

Well, whatever you use, you're messing with your hormones. For me this pill-taking has never been a syptom-free thing, although without wanting to be I've been on it for 6 years (actually for other medical reasons).

Another thing is the Nuvaring. Insert for 3 weeks, remove for 1. Repeat. Kinda annoying, IMO.

Isn't there a pill out now that gives you a 2-day period? Check into that one

being 8000 miles away works for us! sorry couldn't resist...

my friend takes the 3 monthly shot, and she's a ob/ gyn nurse...dont think the infertility thing is accurate.

Well, I can say I don't HATE my period, but at the same time, I don't love it. LOL! I've also been on birth control off and on for almost 7 years now. Has never been something I wanted until recently. It was because of problems I was having. Now that we want to do the whole "birth control method", I just want to make sure I'm chosing the right one. Ryan and I will see a gyno about this later, and get views from them, but I wanted views from other people I trust. People that are more opinionated about things.

Yeah many miles apart works, true. And seeing how my nieces act at times is a form of birth control for me as well. LOL!

Ahhhh birth control. I have tried a couple pills and I always had trouble till I got Cerazette. It is gestagen only. I cant take pills with both hormons in it cos I get terrible headaches from that. So well...finally something, but I am not quite happy. I'd rather take no hormons at all since that stuff messes around with my body so badly. But condomes??? No way. That is even messier ....yea stupid birth control but we dont wanna have kiddies yet. We met as a couple...so we wanna have time for us first.

As far as the other contraceptiva goes I have no idea. In my opinion the pill and the injection are the safest to go.

I hate using condoms so it's the pill for me, Norinyl. The only problem for me is that when I am on the pill my periods are heavier and I get incredibly bad cramps. I never noticed any weight gain from being on the pill... as a matter of fact I was on the pill steadily when I was losing weight, and it crept back on when I stopped taking the pill. Well, I am going back on it this week, I'll report any significant weight changes.

I don't like the whole "condom" theme. LOL! I was put on birth control because I was having heavy flow periods and extremely bad cramps. Now I want it for other uses , but I was recently put back on it for the heavy flow and bad cramps. That's the only thing I hate about having a period.

Yeah for most women the pill makes periods lighter and helps elimate cramps, not me... as usual I am ### backwards.
