There are some that a good people which I don't doubt. But, the bad outweighs the good. As a landlord, I am scared to approach a tenant who is hard to deal with. The risk is there. I'm sadden that the Section 8 policy don't allow you to discriminate towards renters. I would take your in-laws in and signed my house up for section 8.

my in-laws got section 8 housing for awhile and they are perfectly normal and nice people

Section 8 rental voucher rules need to specify consequences for those that break their leases. Much like any other contract.

I wonder on the flip side... how many 'conservatives' are willing to lend a hand to Section 8ers. And no, I don't mean do the slumlord thing either.

Like I said... lots of unsurprising BS to put people down.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Section 8 people are bad. Even worse are section 8 illegals.

And Section 8 illegal alien cheerleaders... the scum of the pond.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Some here are getting funnier by the day. Now they are apparently suggesting we believe that section 8 folk are just good old normal folk who are simply struggling to get by. Strange that the police I speak to, aka on the beat, seem to suggest otherwise. What would they know anyway? Furthermore, it's only anecdotal. Interesting thing is that these same individuals will discredit your opinion and demand proof for anything you observe or claim.

Next week they are going to have us believe that crime rates are lower in section 8 areas than wealthy areas.

PS Word of warning. If you bother challenging them, they will first insult you and then simply ignore you.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Many of them are, but of course for you, its all about stereotypes.

They are? Wow, I guess the news stories must just be made up by the corporate media then. The crime stats must also simply be fabricated by haters like me.

Naturally, I am sure you guys regularly go and chill in such areas yourself. Actually, you chill so much that you don't even want them setting up shop in your counties

I have to admit that the section 8 tenants who young females probably 23 year+ are hot. Poor people are sexier than rich. Well, depends on how you perceive. But, I see more hot women from section 8 places than from the wealthier part of the city.

Is that a joke? Ghetto or trash is sexy?

sec.8 contracts are honored by the state. the tenants can't break the lease....the state pays the bill for the specified amount of rent for the specified time period. if the sec.8er damages the property the state fixes it....its in every sec.8 contract.

nobody renting to sec.8 is 'lending a hand'. if they were 'lending a hand' they wouldn't be charging rent now would they?

you're right lots of unsuprising holier than thou BS.

I support Section 8 housing. However, I don't like it that you can't select your own tenants or be picky. You some tenants are stupid drug dealers, gangsters, pot heads. You aren't allow to discriminate against them by refusing them housing which is such a disappointment. I chose not to include my house as section 8 listing.

Love him, he's a (typical) liberal.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

That's why I stated states need to make the contracts more like normal contracts and get the states off the hook for such things. ;) The word consequence usually implies something- and no I don't mean punish a State for the activity of an individual.

I guess you were reading into things as others tend to do. Say it ain't so! :o

One thing I do find ludicrous, and at the same time, unsurprising, is the emacho talk we always see here, when it comes to stereotyping entire sectors of populations based on the actions of individuals.

Anyway, off through the ghetto I go for the second time today, as I do twice a day. Happy Thanksgiving to ya.

What about the biased horse blinker attitude of the poor and illegal aliens do nothing wrong stance? Now that is funny, in particularly coming from someone who is apparently supposed to be college educated.

Better yet, does this too have to do with socioeconomic circumstances? Therefore, if it has nothing to do with the people, section 8 equivalent housing should have the same crime rates and stigma in various countries.

Anyway what would I know. I only volunteer on weekends and donate more money to charities than certain individuals here earn. Aka actually walk the talk. Aka don't demand section 8 housing not be built in my county. It's the same sort of rubbish from people who hate on religion and call it backwards, when in reality they donate and volunteer more time than any and every other group.
