We had a good laugh today - we went into our bank (Wachovia) to get a letter for the Removal of Conditions that we're about to send in. Just a simple letter stating our accounts, that both of us are account holders and for how long.

The guy was friendly and willing to help but as soon as we uttered the words 'for immigration' - we jinxed ourselves. We carefully explained that it was simply to prove that we're in deed sharing things like bank accounts after 2 years of marriage.....I actually had to go into an explanation of ROC...he ended up having to phone someone, who said that they cannot just 'write a letter' because they've been sued before......uhm what???? I'm not asking you to state my income or my bank account balances or notarize it....sheesh. If they can't say that I have an account there - I mean who can?

Anyway - so they can write us a letter but we had to sign something and he had to fax it and then they'll fax it back to the branch and we can pick up our super special letter...maybe Sat or Monday hopefully which hold up the process a few more days

They can't even print a damn letter saying we're joint account holders.....what is the world coming to?????

That is stupid. I bank with Wells Fargo and they gave me the information quite easily. It was not a form letter per se, but it was a printout with all the information needed.

What about a bank statement from when your name was put on the account. Surely they cannot withhold bank statements.

I know that Wells Fargo and Bank of America will give you upon request an Account Summary that denotes any and all changes made to the accout such as adding someone onto the account.

Wells Fargo and BofA both supplied me with the letter. My local credit union also did. If my bank did that, my accounts would be moved the next week. They are there to service you, not be a pain in the #######.

We tried to setup a joint account with Wachovia and it was nearly as painful. Peachey wasn't a resident at the time and it caused no end of crisis's of no solution (apparently).

And the funny thing is Wells Fargo bought Wachovia - guess I can hope they improve the customer service.

Yes - we will be printing bank statements off (we can get them online, but for whatever reason....my name is always the only one which shows up (funnysince I am the alien )
