Hello all, need a little insight/help. Finally got my lady here, we are married and now its time to file the AOS so she can get the green card. i have all the paperwork but i'm worried about the deadline. Her I-94 expires Dec 6 2009 and i think we are supposed to file by then. My job cut my hours [ thank GOD i'm not laid off ] and I wont have the $1000 to file AOS by then. is it a major problem to file after the I-94 expires? can i get an extension? how quickly can we get a permit so she can work?[ she's bored and wants to work ]

its so frustarting- we want to play by the rules and do the right thing and yet i see other foreigners here working without proper documentation. anyway, a little help anyone...im worried about that deadline

You do not have to file for AOS before the I-94 expires... You just need to file as soon as you can. If you cant file before the I-94 expiration then she will be out of status until the AOS have been filed. Do the best you can to file it as soon as posible even if you need to borrow the fee from family or friends.. Some people have waited years to file for AOS from a K1 and others have waited a few months.
