Hi everyone, I have searched hi and lo and no topic explained in detail what the biometrics actually is. I have a biometrics appointment on February 16th, 2006. I entered as K1, got married within the 90 days, have a ssn still in my maiden name, a#, am filing the EAD with the AOS, no AP in my married name.

What papers do I have to bring exactly?

How many pictures do I have to bring? They are colored passport pics right?

How long do you usually have to wait at the biometrics office? Do they go by your appointment time or is it basically first come first served or what? They usually tell you not to be late at the DHS, but what's the use of being punctually on time if they still let you wait one or two hours after that?

Anyone here doing biometrics in Phoenix, AZ? Will we have to wait in the heat under a sprayer like at the DHS if we actually are on time or will it be like at the SSN office that you can at least wait in your car if the waiting area inside the office is too full? I really have bad headaches when standing or sitting in the sun, even with a hat and neck cooler so I hope it will be more humane.

What exactly will be done at the biometrics office? Fingerprints taken, photos also or not? Is there any type of interview there?

How long does the whole process usually take?

Thank you so much. Sincerely, Gwyneth

What papers do I have to bring exactly?

My husband brought his passport with his I-94 in it, biometrics letter, and our NOA for the AOS and EAD.

How many pictures do I have to bring? They are colored passport pics right?

They take your photo right there during the biometrics, so passport photos of your own aren't needed. he biometrics IS the official taking of your fingerprints and photograph.

How long do you usually have to wait at the biometrics office? Do they go by your appointment time or is it basically first come first served or what? They usually tell you not to be late at the DHS, but what's the use of being punctually on time if they still let you wait one or two hours after that?

We got there nearish our appointment time (maybe 15 minutes before) and they took us in early after everyone else was finished. For our place it took all of 15 minutes, but there weren't many people there at the time. The process itself is really quick.

What exactly will be done at the biometrics office? Fingerprints taken, photos also or not? Is there any type of interview there?

There's no interview of any sort. They just take all your fingerprints and 1 photograph and you're done.

How long does the whole process usually take?

We went wice and it each time to 10-15 minutes. But again, there were hardly any people there at the time. It can vary.

Hope that all helps! Good luck! It's an easy thing, very unfrightening.
