Yeah I was just thinking that Thunder.. you should get a senator/congressmen involved. Mine seems pefectly useless, but some people have had really good luck with theirs!!

Invictus..

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll.

I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul.

I think Thunder should definitely get someone involved. I actually had my lovely senator involved after I sent in my first pile of additional docs and he sent me a letter dated March 8th informing me that he has sent an inquiry and he would get back to me once he received any information. Unfortunately, when he had probably sent in that inquiry, the letter for more docs required was on the way to us. I just received a letter dated April, 9th from my Senator saying that the Consulate said they will issue the visa once the required documents have been received by them. I sent them everything they wanted so hopefully this will be the end of all this! I also dropped an email to MTL to see if they can let me know if anything has happened with my file, as DOS informed me that MTL is a bit slow in updating things in the computer so maybe our files are being reviewed and they just haven't put that in their system?! Happy thoughts...happy thoughts...

I'm waiting till next week to give a call to my senator again so they can send in another inquiry if things don't get moving...I LOVE MY SENATOR...one of them totally ignored me (and she was female too...I thought maybe she would feel more of a wife's pain, but i guess not), but the second one is an ANGEL...God Bless Him!

So sorry to hear that tHund3r! Have you gotten your senator involved?

Cowgirl,

My hubby contacted his Congressman last week. Yesterday I made a follow up call and the office's staff that I spoke with told me that she just emailed MTL. We will give her a call on Friday.

I am thinking of emailing Montreal today since I'm on my 6th week today after I sent in my additional docs.

This is not fair! When I was asked for additional docs, I had to obtain them the soonest possible time so that I can send them in right away hoping that after 4 weeks, we can hear something from MTL or the best part is when we track at canadapost,it'll say --out of delivery!!SIGh!Sigh!

I sent in additional docs back in Feb. I am at 8 weeks. These delays seem to be a constant with the Montreal Consulate. Frustrating to say the least...

Disgusting, really. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Hi everyone,

I'm sorry to here that marisp. Hopefully it will pop up in the mail very, very soon. It is just so odd that some people get their's within the 4-6 wks time frame and others it takes forever. If you dont mind me asking, what were the additional documents that they had asked for...meaning what did they want you to prove? My prayers are with you...

Thanks. They asked for additional proof of establishing domicile. I checked the mail about 10 mins ago, and surprise surprise, there was the packet, all crumpled and stuffed into my mini mailbox. Funny, I thought i'd need to sign for it, or be forewarned by email that its on its way...but no. Anyway, who cares at this point...at least I got it and its official! Very excited and a huge weight off my shoulders! Lots of logistics to figure out now, and think about over the weekend...woo hoo!

To sum up the timeline, sent Feb 17, received Visa April 16. Almost a full 8 weeks.

Well, it always makes me feel a little hopeful when people start hearing back from the consulate. It has been 4 weeks for me since I sent additional docs, and today I sent off a letter to my congresswoman asking for her help. It seems like once they get involved, the people at the consulate put those cases at the top of the pile...we'll see.

Congrats to marisp and tHund3r!

Question... we'll have to do our interview there eventually and I was curious if the people at the Embassy are much like the rest of Montreal. IE if you speak fluent French you get better service. I know anywhere I've been in Montreal when I speak French or they see my French Catholic last name they seem to love me. When I speak English and they see I'm from Ontario they couldn't care less. I know it's quite off topic, but how are the language politics over there?

See profile for our K-1 Visa/AOS story from 2010-2011Apparently we love USCIS/NVC so much we left and are doing it again! This time giving IR-1 a whirl. Rock on immigrators.

07/09/2014 sent in IR-1 packet to Chicago Lockbox

07/16/2014 NOA1

07/17/2014 check cashed by USCIS

10/01/2014 found out we are expecting baby #2 June 2015!

12/15/2014 NOA2

12/30/2014 Case received by NVC

03/23/2015 Received Case and Inv # from NVC after many calls and bogus excuses.

03/24/2015 AOS payment accepted by NVC

04/09/2015 IV payment finally accepted by NVC after the set the wrong fee and took weeks to correct it.

*many more delays thanks to the agency processing my fingers prints to the RCMP and the post office losing our mail*

05/20/2015 Packet sent to NVC via UPS, eta May 28.

06/16/2015 Baby #2 due - homebirth in Scottsdale, AZ
