If all is approved and satisfactory at the final interview (in Montreal), is there anything that says we have to move to the States within a certain period of time? (Or does my husband have to present himself at a port of entry within a certain time frame to receive the I-551 stamp on his passport?) I've looked for info on this but haven't found anything. Reason I'm asking is because with all of the loose ends we'll have to tie up here (selling our house, making moving arrangements, etc.), it'd be nice to know how much time we have to get our life in order up here and to make preparations for our move south of the border.

Any info would be much appreciated... thanks!

The visa will be valid for six months past the issue date-- so your husband will have to present himself to the POE before that time frame otherwise it will expire.

Thanks! Six months should be plenty of time for us to get our affairs in order here... good news. :)

I know in my case, which dealt with my fiance, she had up to four months to enter the US after receiving approval from the US Consulate. Fortunately for us we didn't have any lose ends to wrap up and were on a plane to the states within a week.

What visa? K-3? That is usually valid for 2 years. Look at the visa in your passport. It will say when it expires. That is the date you need to use it by.
