searched the whole forum did ya?

Actually this question (or similar) gets asked a lot - A co-sponsor completes the same form as the sponsor does - supplies the same types of supporting evidence (tax returns, pay stubs etc) with the addition of proof of citizenship. A co sponsor must meet the minimum income requirements for his/her household size AND the person being sponsored.

So do they just fill out the same I-864a? along with recent paystubs and W-2 and a copy of a birth certificate the co-sponsor would be a friend of the sponsor, the Co-sponsor is currently employed by the Las Vegas Police Dept.

I am adjusting status in the USA. I am just so confused I can find someone who is well above the poverty line but dont know what the requirements are to be a co-sponsor.

The joint sponsor's income has to be 125% above the 'poverty level' for the size of his/her household. That means that if the person has, for example, a wife and two kids and is thinking of being a joint-sponsor for an intending immigrant...their household size would be 5.

Joint sponsor + wife + 2 kids + intending immigrant = 5 people SO, salary must be 125% of poverty guideline for 5 people which =$32,238

I-864 forms must be filled out by both your wife - sponsor (even if her income is not sufficient) and the joint-sponsor and the accompanying income tax transcripts or returns must be included for both.

Instructions on how to fill out the I-864 are here:

So basicly the co-sponsor does not need to be family related, I will have to submit the following for both sponsor and co-sponsor correct me if I am wrong:

*I-864

*Recent paystubs

*Last Years W-2's

*Birth certificate

Besides this information is there anything else that needs to be submited for the Co-sponsor

Not just the W-2s. You have to submit the whole tax return.

The easier alternative is tax transcripts. They are free. They are fast. They are all inclusive! (hooray!)

Ok so I should order a 4506 form, but besides this there is nothing else that is not listed on the list above right?

You can order the tax transcripts over the phone and have them mailed or faxed to you.
