I've gathered some info, starting with VJ guide, and made a google doc with some links to forms, etc. Doesn't look too bad. At this point I have other things like the marriage itself, SSN, importing my car.

SSN next week, and probably next week I will try to get things together, fill out the forms, so that once I get back from honeymoon near the end of December I can send it off. I-94 for me is good til Feb 11th or something. I think I'll be okay mailing it off at the very beginning of January. Can anyone tell me I'm crazy to wait that long? Is Jan 3-Feb 11 cutting it too close?

you should be fine, as you will be married within the 90 days and thats still before your 90 days are up. As far as I know you are still ok if you mail the AOS slightly after, though you would be out of status during that time till your NOA1, so doing it within the 90 days is fine.

So I'm not totally crazy. Yay.

My main thing is, once I move, there's going to be a newborn (not mine) in the house and a new mom looking for an extra hand, I'm sure, as my sister-in-law will be separated from her military fiance for a little while. I know that if I leave everything to the last minute, something will certainly come up.

And since my license and such will be tied with getting my NOA, I'm itching to getting it off asap. I swear we'd get married the day after I entered and mail off everything that day if I didn't have to wait for my damn SSN.

I am getting married tomorrow and will be filing for AOS by next Tues/Wed. Im using Dr. Arnold as most of the civil surgeons in Maryland won't transcribe my vaccines for less than 120 USD :/ Anyway I will keep you guys updated! I think the AOS is quite simple as long as your affidavit of support and medical records are ok. The rest is just very simple paperwork...

We are still struggling on whether or not to file EAD with the AOS or file online after. Online EAD might be faster and since Ive been offered a job to teach in the spring, I might need it before 60 days... and employment will even out the extra 400 USD required to do so...

Finally married... and still married... ;)

Ah yes but remember, I'm laid off right now with no life, so I had nothing better to do, other than pack and I have most of that except my room done.

LOL I was going to mention that, but you already did so I don't feel so bad since you said it first :P Working full time throughout this blows! I have no time for any 'extra' stuff like getting things done early. :(

Going to try to keep up with this thread though and cut down on extra chatter.... like this post.... my bad.

You can get married without a SSN...

I know. However I'd much rather avoid the hassle of maiden versus married if I go apply for it after I've technically changed my name. And my fiance's bank agreed to add me to his account without the SSN, but said they wanted it on file asap (as I explained it would be a couple of weeks for me to appear in the system, etc).

I honestly think I'm going to chance my AOS packet with the vaccination sheet from my medical and wait for them to issue an RFE if they want it transcribed. I read through a lot of threads and saw that it seemed like a pretty even split, and honestly, long as I have my EAD/AP, a small delay on the green card itself won't kill me.

I hope tomorrow goes well for you, darkchilde! Congrats on your wedding day, and best wishes to you. :)

I've read a bit about it. But I'm not going to get too focused on it. I'm concentrating on getting my stuff together to move in 5 weeks(people I have to notify, etc....) & planning the details of my wedding. That alone is making my mind spin. I'm sure I'll be watching any AOS thread's a little later!

But I think it's cool that a bunch of us will be filing in and around the same time.....

Will you be here for New Year's??? ;)

Piece of advice, go for it without the medical transcription. ONLY if you get an interview, would I worry about the transcription.

Agreed. Thats my plan of attack too. For the SSN, I don't need it to apply for AOS, so I'm debating on getting married and then applying, though it seems most people can't get it in their married name anyway cuz of documents not in the married name or whatever. Not sure exactly when I will apply for it, I know thanks to the miracle of driving cross country, my 2 weeks will be short cuz it will take us about 5 days to get to CA in the first place lol. Ah so much stuff.

You aren't crazy. I filed on August 18th and my I-94 was set to expire the first week of September. Although its suggested, there really isn't a rule you must file AOS before your I-94 expires as long as you were married before the 90 days were up, and you haven't accumulated to many days out of status (I want to say 180? something like that) So enjoy your honeymoon and worry about it later!!

For the I-693 I had problems finding a doctor in my area who would transcribe the document as well, so I used Dr. Arnold. He was very prompt and cost effective, so I would definitely recommend him. I agree with July, I think its worth sending the AOS packet without the I-693. Many people are approved without it and very few are issued an RFE. If you have an interview it is on the list of required documents but I wasn't even asked for mine. What a waste of $30!!

My two weeks will be cut short too, as the first of the two will be spent in Ohio visiting some friends of his. Then the drive down, hehe.

Huggles, I'm surprised they didn't even ask for it at the interview. If I'm understanding correctly, you weren't issued an RFE for it, but were told to bring it to the interview?

I like that, at least. No delay, just a bit of a scramble to get it before the interview. Much better.
