Fake Christmas trees are made from petroleum products (plastic) and metal. No wood involved.

So we were gonna try and save money and go get a real tree...but my husband changed his mind lol...of course...

He was telling some of his patients, and they started to give him slack for not saving the trees :( lol....

Christmas trees are grown especially for...... Christmas! So they're a renewable resource. Plus most cities recycle them by grinding them into mulch.

Kind of like growing flowers and stuff. Do his patients tell him to save the flowers too?

Which is equally as bad for the environment.

Agreed...agreed...and agreed...lol

I'm with you guys! I just prefer a fake tree, cause it comes pre lit and less hassle I think....I let my husband call that one ;)

We are having family over on Xmas eve...it'll be the first time our mothers meet...so it should be interesting to say the least...his mom has a way of offending everyone she meets before the night is over...lol

She plays innocent...but is really not a great person...she is very selfish...has 3 son's all in their 40's...but treats them like they are all hers and no woman is ever good enough...did I mention that years ago my husband had a girlfriend, they were over at his mom's for dinner...and mid dinner, in walks his ex girlfriend with a cake? His mom said she 'popped in unexpectedly' as she was still friendly with the girl...he comes to find out, she purposely invited her over....WTH?....when she found out that we had gotten engaged...being that he was 42 and never had really settled down before...I found out she was running her mouth to the rest of the family saying '...this one must have some pretty fancy tricks in the bed I tell ya'....who says that????...He got mad and told her 'only the same tricks you used to land dad' haha! So needless to say...nothing I prepare for dinner that night will be good enough....she is so off her rocker, that we honestly just laugh it off...he knows how loopy she is....thankfully he does not allow her 'in' to our marriage....that woman is enough to send any girl out the door!...and my husband loves to toy with her....he tries to play in to how she is....he's like 'wear something really out there when she comes over, like a mini and heels and a low cut top'...lol....great, i'll be serving dinner looking like 'Peg Bundy'

I wonder if there are a lot of Xmas stuff left over at Target, after xmas? They usually reduce their prices...I would love to get some stuff discounted for next year. After Halloween, I went to Target and got some really cool stuff for like 70% off!

I always want to go shopping after Christmas for Christmas stuff but I never seem to have the money at that time of year :P

and yeah you have to go the day or two after Christmas..that stuff clears out pretty fast...

I like buying my wrapping paper then you can sometimes get it for like 10 cents a roll...

Walgreens usually has a lot of Christmas stuff on sale right after Christmas too...

Yay for starting new traditions!

Peachey, we should start one of our own when we are settled -- you are the closest VJ to me that I know of!

And we are planning to get most of our Christmas stuff after Christmas! We are getting a tree and I might buy a Christmas plate for the hubby's office party (so I can bake cookies for his coworkers) but the rest, I will get after Christmas. Hmmm also a good idea to consider outlets if you are near any one of them. Im sure the holiday stuff will be dirt cheap!

Finally married... and still married... ;)

I really dislike the way my husbands family celebrates Christmas... they give eachother lists and everyone gets what is exactly on their list. You can't sway from the list and perhaps buy them something from the heart, you MUST stick to the list.

This year everything on the lists are expensive. His mother has given us the list for her, her husband and my husbands brother and everything is over or close to 100.00. Times that by 3 and you have a pricey Christmas.

I suggested to my husband that we make gifts, like cookie mixes or hot cocoa mixes in jars and get baskets to put them in. I said we could make a really nice basket for everyone for under 50.00 per person. He said that we can't do that because they'll take it the wrong way. Wrong way? What the hell??

I say if you want those expensive items, then go buy them yourself, you'll take what I give you or I won't bother buying for you anymore.

And may I add that last year his grandma gave us a food basket, and told us it was one less meal we had to worry about. We're not poor but we adhere to a budget but to them sticking to a budget means poor because they usually have no problems buying the things they want right away.

I mean giving me a food basket and telling me: "It's one less meal to worry about.." that's a little more offensive than giving someone some nice cookie mix and hot cocoa... I dunno just my thoughts.

There's about 500 outlet stores 2 minutes down the road from where I'll be living! :hehe:

And yes, we could start a VJ pajama party cookie thing. There's actually quite a few people near by: JillA, Sprailenes, theTreble, Poprocks and Lgg, if she ever gets her visa :P
