Leftover Turkey is very nasty. It tastes good out of the oven, but, when you leave it in the fridge then warm it up again the next day, it is just gross to eat.

That is why I cook chicken.

Traditional Thanksgiving fare for us

and a pineapple upside down cake for dessert

I agree that turkey is best the day of, hot out of the oven....once it gets cold and it gets all hard and gelatineous.

Two months ago:

Nik: What sort of sides do you have with Turkey during these holiday meals?

Me: Well, sMashed potatoes -

Nik: Not ROAST potatoes?

Me: No, boiled and smashed potatoes.

Nik: But I want ROAST potatoes

Me [getting the feeling of being teased]: Well, that's not what WE have.

Nik [Full on teasing now]: Why not ROAST potatoes?

Me: Look, if you want roast potatoes, then we'll just have to cook dinner at our house.

We have had replays several times as well - mostly because he usually gets a reaction.

Well, we finalized THAT conversation, and we are having my parents and sister over to our house for T-day on our new dishes (thx wedding) and new dining table (thx wedding money).

I'm pleased to report that the oven in my house (unlike my old apartment) can hold a turkey and two casserole dishes! Yay!

We'll be serving:

Turkey

Lemon-thyme stuffing (also has sausage)

ROAST potatoes

sMashed potatoes

Sweet potato casserole

Green bean casserole

cranberry salad

cranberry sauce

Gravy (from Minors)

and

Pumpkin Pie! (Mom has this great state fair winning recipe - it's souffle like - FANTASTIC)

I'm excited/nervous. We went shopping for everything this weekend - took two stores to find any fresh thyme, and THREE stores to get sage sausage, but I learned how to pick a turkey (according to dad, find the cheapest per pound in the paper, then buy one with the right pounds - hah, and I was worried it'd be hard) and we got a good one - I hope.

I am just curious when you do a turkey do you just stuff the leftover carcass in the fridge or do you take them meat off the bones.??

I think Instant Mashed Potatoes saves a lot of time for Black Friday rush. I'm going to spend 3,000 dollars that day.

We're Asian, don't know how to westernized our cusine. Therefore, making sandwiches is out of the question. We keep it whole in the fridge.

I always take the meat off of any carcass before refridgeration.

I just throw the meat into some gravy and then refridgerate. There is no work prying the meat from the bones and it doesn't get all dried out reheating it in an oven.
