Hello everyone!! My husband arrived on October 14th on a CR1 visa. On October 19th we went to our local Social Security Administration office just to make sure everything was in order. They helped hubby to fill out an application and told us it would be 2-4 weeks until it arrived. On November 15th we went back to the Social security office to ask why we hadn't received it. They told us they were waiting on "a feed" from homeland security before they could issue his card and that it "should be any time now". They also advised to call immigration. We called immigration and they told us to make an info pass appointment. When we went for that appointment they looked at us like we had 3 heads. They had no idea what we were talking about. It is now November 23rd and still no SSN. Hubby received his green card about 2 weeks after his arrival. Any idea what the heck is going on?????? Thanks!!!

go to other SSA office in your area. The human you spoke with at the first SSA office is wrong. You can choose to train them, but IMO is waste of time.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Well I am glad I am not alone!!! People have been telling me that Social Security is jerking us around. I don't know what else to do.

Just go in and have him fill out the paperwork. We waited four weeks because that's what we were told but he got tired of waiting and just filled out the application - got it in less than a week.

I know this is CR-1 but for my K-1 it took a month and a week to get mine, they said 3-4 weeks at first and when i called at 3 weeks they had not even put the check in yet.. they just left it sitting the whole 3 weeks. I told the guy on the phone that I need my card and I was really angry they left my papers sitting doing nothing the whole time and he said wait 2 more weeks, 2 more weeks passed and I was about to call them and yell again and then... My ssn was in the mail box.
