I am waiting on a K1 visa, but me and my girlfriend have decided that we could speed things up a little. Besides the US, I also have the Italian (by birth) and the Finnish (by mother) citizenships.

I still have residency in Rome according to my Italian citizenship, and in Helsinki according to my Finnish one.

Which consulate among these two cities could do things faster? I know the efficiency of the Finns, but I also know that Rome is one of the three overseas USCIS districts and that may be an advantage? I can either get married in Rome or Helsinki, and I'll base that decision on the faster DCF.

My girlfriend is Brazilian, but before filing for DCF at US consulate, she will be a legal resident of either Finland or Italy.

I'll really appreciate any inputs on this subject.

From what I have heard Helsinki could be faster. I might have a similar situation (to some extent). How do you plan getting legal residency for your girlfriend? Will it be done through marriage?

Hello,

yes I will marry her eventually in Finland if Helsinki is faster for DCF. She will be getting Finnish residency since I am Finnish citizen, besides getting all the benefits like Kela (social assistance), being entitled to medical assistance all over Europe for free, etc.

I am really getting sick and tired from the constant ineficiency of the US burocracy and the constant expenditure for private medical insurance, house insurance, outrageous rates for car insurance. My Volvo SW in Helsinki pays 630 Euros a year for full coverage with unlimited liability (not like my Magnum in Florida that pays 840 USD every 6 months and has 100k/300k).

Besides considering to drop my K1 application I have considering dropping the whole USA from my plans, I simply do not see the benefits anymore when compared to Europe. Probably 10 yrs ago when I arrived her, it was different.

Sorry for the outbust, but I felt to open my feelings... again, sorry.

sure doesnt seem like anything would be faster. After marriage, she would have to go thru some kind of immigration process just to become a legal resident of either country. Then after six months of being a resident, then the US Consulate would entertain the idea of DCF, assuming that you still had US income and domocile.

Just my initial thoughts.....I dont how immigration laws work in those countries.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.
