So way before I met my fiance I started to watch BBC America when I lived in NYC. Footballer wives, Waterloo Road, Coupling & Absolutely Fabulous (old but I didn't care). Then when I moved back to Dallas fell in love with Mistresses but looks like it is done. Sadness. Oh and Don't tell the Bride (I am crazy about wedding shows now :) ). Anyway my sweetie sent me some of these shows on DVD and a region free DVD player. So sweet. I didn't even know about regions - shows again how US focused I can be. Regardless was searching on iTunes many, many months ago and came across this show called Gavin & Stacy. So I downloaded the entire series (1 and 2 I think) to my ipod and watched all of the shows. Such a cute story. Whew, finally I am getting to my point, I friended the show on facebook and found out that they are starting their final season this weekend. My honey is going to tape them all for me so when I go at Christmas I can watch. :luv: I heart him. :) I am just so excited about everything that I wanted to share. Eeeee! So happy. Okay time to sleep. Have a great week all.

Tony loves BBC America too...especially Top Gear which he thinks is hilarious. I can remember my precable days and having to watch PBS on Saturday night for "Best of British", although it wasn't really best! Are You Being Served, Keeping Up Appearances...sometimes you would get The Vicar of Dibley but when you're homesick you'll watch anything! I'm just glad that when I finally get to go home my Tony will be waiting with cable and BBC America...nice!

My other half is obsessed with BBCA, Top Gear especially. I think it's gonna be my lifeline once i get over there but I really am mystified by some of the stuff the BBC deems worth to export to foreign countries....Cash In The Attic?! Are you kidding me? I don't want my American friends thinking this is the finest in British broadcasting!!!

And my boy rang me up traumatised when he turned it on to find You Are What You Eat on the telly...his words...'there's poo on the TV...what kind of country do you come from?!' ;)

 Yeah, they sometimes play shite like that, and Bargain Hunt, plus cooking shows, Trinny and Susannah, How to Look Good Naked, etc. None of which interests us.

I watch BBC America for Graham Norton (airs days after it does in the UK) and Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares. Other than that, I try and catch PBS for Faulty Towers, Vicar of Dibley, Keeping Up Appearances, etc... they sometimes play Only Fools and Horses which I love!

Mostly we just watch stuff on DVD though (as we have it region-free).

OMG - weekend before last - Norton had David Tennant AND Johnny Vegas together, on same show. TWO of my current faves.

If you want some titles for Johnny Vegas - look him up on www.imdb.com - ask yer lass to find some stuff :D

I like Top Gear, Dr. Who, Graham Norton , Coupling, anything with Gordon Ramswey.

Christmas time is coming up - hopefully we'll catch the Live Broadcast of 'Lessons and Carols' ... I have always watched this, or caught it on radio - I had sung as a Chorister in my youth one year for broadcast - I miss it, a lot.

Graham Norton cracks me up. I would love to go sit in his audience some time. When I went to visit Paul, we spent time flipping between football, cricket, darts, the X factor and the soaps that he watches (used a different name for them though I think :) ). It seemed different than watching in the US where we have commericals every 5-6 minutes. He and I are both movie and TV people. We tend to watch the same stuff which is good. Mentalist, Flash Forward, Law & Order, Criminal Minds, Nip/Tuck, Rescue Me and my favorite reality show Amazing Race (too bad he won't be able to leave the country for awhile or I would suggest we try out.) Have a new show I am saving for him called The League about a bunch of guys in a fantasy football league. Very funny. On F/X.

I used to watch that show when I lived overseas. I always thought her insistence on such descriptive adjectives for the poo is what would keep that show from crossing the pond. Guess I was wrong...

I did learn to really like that show as well as Grand Designs and House of Tiny Tearaways. I have not been able to find either of those shows here though:(

I'm really disappointed with BBCA. I know really I'm lucky to have whatever they show, but the programming is so lazy and really sporadic at best. I like the idea of having the marathons on, but really, Cash in the Attic and Gordon Ramsey are on ALL THE TIME? They used to actually show Eastenders years ago but I think sold it off somewhere (according to another blog I read) and the continuity of some of the shows they do air, like Top Gear is all jumbled up, mixing seasons up, sometimes, with years between episodes. And then its all repeats repeats repeats (of stuff already shown on BBCA, not BBC and Channel 4... cos obviously it's all be repeats then;))

It could be a brilliant channel, to showcase loads of great shows from the UK, but sometimes, some of the choices, are well, poor, I think because ultimately the budget they have isn't that big to 'bring'the better shows over here.

I need some help too :) Found out that BBC One has Gavin and Stacey. So went to the website and yes good news it is there to watch on line. Click on, bad news, only can access in UK. Any other suggestions? I have asked Paul to record it but wanted to find out if any other ideas so I don't have to wait. :)

Totally agree with you, lovelyalex! BBC America is appalling - I see better BBC programming (albeit ANCIENT BBC programming) on PBS - but BBCA just consists of the same endlessly-repeated drivel, all bloody day long, most of it not even BBC drivel, FFS! It's sad, when it has so much potential to showcase (and show off) what the BBC is all about, and what great TV can/should be like.

They stopped showing EastEnders years ago - around 2002ish, if I remember right. Teeth were gnashed, garments were rent, petitions were signed and sent, but all to no avail - all too expensive, apparently. :( Even back then, though, it was utter shite - Changing Rooms and Home Front all day, I think (didn't live here at the time, but got to witness it while staying with UK-expat friends), so when they stopped showing EastEnders the whole thing went to the dogs altogether.

On a less grumpy note, it is nice when I flip over to BBCA sometimes and find something like, I dunno, Catherine Tate on there. But it's mostly utter #######.

I'd pay good money, incidentally, to be able to get BBC World here in Ohio. Not available, though. Bah. :(

Editing to say... ummmm, sorry to the OP and all the other BBC America fans - I sound like a right moody old cow and I don't mean to! :)

I am not a fan of BBC America. I think its how the BBC will be in England if the licence fee ever got abolished.

Top Gear is cut to hell. I watched last nights Top Gear that was shown in England last night on my dvd player via my USB stick which I downloaded from a UK TV torrent site.

How many times does BBC America have to show Gordon Ramseys Kitchen Knightmares and how clean is your house. They show repeats of repeats and its old news. How Clean Is Your House? How about How Current are your shows.

Im a member of Netflix they have a big British TV Section of DVDS and some you can actually stream to your PC. I have been watching Red Dwarf.

Eastenders is on PPV on Dishnetwork its like $10 to watch 24 hours worth of Enders.

Better still get a DVD player that plays DIVX and join www.thebox.bz dowload the torrents burn them onto a dvd and watch on your tv at leisure.
