Hey guys, I hope everyone is doing well :)

I have seen a lot of information saying that if the US sponsor is unemployed, a co-sponsor is sufficient when it comes to the I-134s.

My fiance just got laid off today because theres not enough work for him. We got packet 3 a few weeks ago and I havent sent any forms back to the embassy yet. My fiances mother said that she is more than happy to be a co-sponsor.

I just wanted to know if anyone has been unemployed but not a student and has got past the interview stage. I know London is fairly easy to get the visa relative to other countries, but just wanted to hear any experiences...

Thanks in advance and have a great day :D

Sorry to hear about the unemployment. This is coming up more often here on VJ. It is not a "Deal breaker." The petitioner still needs to complete the I-134.

You would need to secure a co-sponsor who would complete their own I-134 along with all supporting documents.

London is more concerned about the I-134 than any other information that you provide at the interview. If your fiance's mother is willing to be a co-sponsor, then I would use her information. Make sure that along with the support documentation with the I-134 that she provides a birth certificate or passport

I was unemployed when my husband had his interview. I actually never held a job at that point. My dad co-sponsored for us and we had no problem at all. They didn't even read over my I-134. They just put it aside and looked at my dad's. They asked for his pay check stubs and Tax transcripts. And all was good. London is only worried about the I-134 and sponsorship. And co-sponsor is good enough for them.

Thanks guys I appreciate the help. This is a tough time for us in terms of deciding what to do as my fiance only left education in June this year so this was his first full time job, meaning his tax returns for the last few years dont look great! We will now file our DS forms and hope that all goes well in the interview :)

does it need to be an original certified copy of the birth certificate that goes to the embassy for a joint/second sponsor or would a photocopy suffice? I'm assuming it would be photocopies of all passport pages as per the petitioner at I-129F stage? I'm hoping to meet up with our potential joint sponsor over christmas and would like to have as much info as possible for him.

May 2007 Met online

6th November 2007 Met in Person, returned to UK 9th January 2008

23rd June 2008 2nd trip to USA, returned 26th August 2008

22nd June 2009 3rd trip to USA, returned 20th September 2009

10th November 2009 I-129F package sent

17th November 2009 package signed for

12th December 2009 RFE(???) for CERTIFIED Divorce certificate, still not got NOA1

14 December 2009 TOLD OUR PACKAGE IS BEING RETURNED FOR INCOMPLETE DOCUMENTS - THERE GOES OUR TIMELINE BY 2 MONTHS

27th January 2010 STILL waiting for an NAO1!!!!! Packet was sent to someone else with same name and never returned, weather caused delays, telephone helpline ppl just keep saying to phone back as we have to be reassigned a new number. Argh!!! We should be approved or denied by now!!!!!

There was a recent report on these forums of a beneficiary at London whose sponsor did not include any proof of nationality.

Form I-134 actually does not call for such proof.
