According to the Lima embassy website they are required.

http://lima.usembassy.gov/required_forms.html

You and your fiance(e) should do some reading of the Guides here on VJ to familiarize yourselves with the process prior to jumping in. Also do reading on the Latin America regional forum to get Peru specific advice. That will answer a lot of questions.

The majority opinoin here on VJ is that the CR1 is a better visa than the K3. The immigrant has a green card after entry to the US. The K3 requires the Adjustment of Status step ($1010 fee).

Best of luck.

hello ...=) i want to know if the vaccinations are important to get the k3 , or i can do it later in usa. after i recived the k3 . im from peru .

thank you

No vaccinations are required to OBTAIN the K3 visa but the WILL BE REQUIRED to adjust status after arrival. If you insist on taking the K3 route instead of the CR1 route that DOES REQUIRE the vaccinations first, then be prepared to pay for them after arrival.

It depends on the consulate - the federal rule says not to require them.. but some consulates force it, such as mumbai consulate..

best to check with the consulate itself.

See "About Me" for full timeline.

Not what your link says. A K-3 is a NON-immigrant visa. Some consulates treat the requirement the same for "K" and IR/CR's but the info on the website is unclear as to Lima's viewpoint.

Medical Exams

All immigrant visa applications require a medical exam conducted by a designated panel physician. There are currently three panel physicians approved for use in Peru. Costs associated with the medical examination are S/.300.00 Peruvian Nuevos Soles for applicants over the age of 15 and S/.180.00 Peruvian Nuevos Soles for those applicants aged infant to 14.

YMMV

is very confusing - he would have to call the embassy to see specifically what's required..

Embassy in mumbai keeps telling me that the k3 is a immigrant visa because you get greencard.. I know better, but they dont care that it's AOS you're filing to get a greencard. Unfortunatley, its up to the embassy to determine what's required and what's not required for them to issue the visa, since they are the final people between you and your SO.

I would call them to be completley sure about it, so there's no surprises..

See "About Me" for full timeline.

That's why I suggested the regional forum to get embassy specific information as the K visa non-immigrant / immigrant handling can be a bit murky.

Looks like we got input from a Lima traveler from last week. Seems that it's needed.

That is the normal procedure, yes but if Lima requires them before hand, you'll need them before. You need a Lima specific answer to be sure. Why not email them directly?

the Lima embassy does require vaccinations for the K-3 Visa...

My husband got a K-1 visa, but the vaccination procedure is the same. All in all, it cost my husband around $250 for everything. He saw Dr. Nora Lari, and she was really nice doctor.

Good luck :star:

P.S. The embassy in Lima will send you a packet with instructions for everything, including the doctor's appt. Call & keep on top of this because my husband did not receive the packet on time and had to go and pick one up from the embassy.
