Another reason not to post too much personal information in the Internet. Including VJ.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

If the insurance relied on the woman's doctor to diagnose and put her on paid medical leave, then the insurance company should consult with the same doctor on when he thinks she is well enough to return to work...and not rely on anecdotal evidence that she is well.

Oh please. Depression is BS anyway, everyone gets depressed - no reason to skirt your responsibilities.

it's all the evil insurance company's fault. Only a benevolent Government agency can help her now

i didn't read the article posted here, but i did read another article that said the insurance company used more data than facebook to can her benefits. it is very easy to get a depression diagnosis. if one doesn't have a sob story of their own, there are plenty in books and magazine for the taking so one doesn't even need their own story. i know of someone on SSI for depression, her story is completely made up, she fills her prescription and then throws the drugs down the sink. she gets a whole lot of benefits even though she is well off financially - to get SSI one doesn't need to be poor, just disabled. it did take 2 years for her to get SSI approval. this is the secret to getting approved: don't work, keep going to the doctor, keep reapplying after they deny SSI and eventually, by law, they have to approve benefits.

Then why would the insurance company bother to cover it? Why bother having doctors make the diagnosis in the first place?

Oh get off of it Steven.... do you have some unreasonable belief that O couldn't find half a Doz. docs this week to "diagnose" some thing as flimsy as depression? Sure some people do suffer from it but really... can you think of an easier roll to play if you (and the Doc) benefited from your "condition"?

I'm bettin I am not the only person here who has had "docs for hire" phone numbers given to me for this potential case or that.

But I do like your child-like faith my friend.

So when we get govt. sponsored health care, all I have to do is say I'm depressed and my employer HAS TO pay me?

I used to be against this whole thing... but now I'm having second thoughts!
