Anyone know the best sites to download music for a nano 8GB Ipod to a PC?

Free if possible.

The Ipod is made by Apple. Our PC is a Dell.

i suggest using apple's itunes - it's legal.

I took the Ops question as referring to downloading (transferring) songs already existing on an Ipod to a PC (not downloading music/songs). I could be wrong in that regard...

Lots of peer to peer download sites available, but be careful, FBI is watching, a student in Duluth was fined $250,000.00 just a short time ago. Plus many of these MP3 files are loaded with a virus that can crash your host computer. With Apple, you really don't buy the music, but just license it, may find if you stop your subscription, these songs will no long play. We just buy our CD's, legal to make up backups and use either Nero or Windows Media to rip off the songs we want and convert them to either MP3 or .wma files, I believe your Ipod will play those just as well. It's also legal to copy anything broadcasted over the air, but have to convert that into a .wav file, then to an MP3 of a WMA file to upload to your player. Way too much work for me, I just sing, whistle or hum. Got my wife an MP3, we picked a Sandisk as far more universal and have a subscription to Rapsody, but every couple of weeks, she has to plug her MP3 player into her computer, not mine and update the codes or it doesn't work. So if we go on a trip, she has to bring her computer with her. Just can't log in with any computer, it's crazy. But after using her MP3 Player for a couple of months, got bored with it.

Itunes will pretty much handle all the transferring and you can purchase most music through their store. You can also rip cds that you already have and copy the music files from those onto the ipod.

There are some artisits who put thier music out for free or at least very cheap. http://magnatune.com/ But if you are looking for free music from popular acts, you probably won't find it for free anywhere at least not legally.

Thanks guys. Yeah Heck with the free sites. I looked at a couple and got virus warnings poping up.

Is it even legal to put CDs on your iPod. I do it. But, wondering if that's considered copying the damn things too.
