Just got back two days ago from Alexandria, Egypt. What an amazing and beautiful city! The humitidy was a little hard to get used to, but after a few days I got used to it. The parks are amazing with all the floral and fauna, I have never seen an aloe plant get so big. It was a little hard to see all the pollution, trash, soda bottles, etc.......but I guess it's hard to keep up with in a city so large.

My S/O,,,,,,,,,what a sweet and wonderful man he is. All of his family have the best sense of humor, always laughing and joking, pulling pranks and doing crazy, silly things. His father, (baba) is the best cook in the world in my opinion. There wasn't anything that he cooked that I didn't like and eat with relish. Even eating octopus and squid for the first time was easy for me, lol. Most mornings I would wake up early to have coffee and biscuits with baba before he went to work. If I woke up late, I would find my cup and spoon and a saucer of biscuits waiting for me at my place at the table.

I had a few problems while I was there, a tonsil infection, a blister on my foot that got infected. I was taken immediatly to the doctor to be treated, at my s/o's insitance, I put up a fight since I hate any Dr. But, it was funny watching the doc go crazy trying to figure out which one of the guys I was with. They all felt they had to go with me, in case one missed something, the other would pick it up. So, here I am, an American woman with 3 Egyptian guys who are all worried to death about me! It was hilarious!

Coming back home was so hard, I hated to leave Egypt, hated to leave my new family. If not for my kids, I would not have left, no matter how hard life is there, sharing it with someone you love, and who you know loves you completly, it is worth it.

So, now I am looking for tickets for February or March to go back again. Inshaa Allah I will find something with a good price so I can take at least one of my sons with me.

My life has been blessed with the love of 4 of the sweetest men in the world. James, Jonathan, Nicolas, and Islam, my sons and my S/O.

OPSSSSSSS I DID IT AGAIN!

Sounds like an awesome experience!! Isn't it wonderful to feel loved, even when you are sick? LOL I had a similar experience when I was in Morocco this summer....I got a parasitic infection in my intestines from the water, and I was miserable for a whole week. My fiance's family was wonderful, and he was UNBELIEVABLE! He doted on me, got me anything that would make me more comfortable (the heat was stiffling at times, and add being sick on top of that....YUCK!) He wanted to take me to a doctor but I work in the medical field and knew what I needed to do for myself to improve the situation. The only part that was really hard was convincing his family that NOT eating was not going to do me any harm. I just needed to stay hydrated. What an experience it all was! But it showed me that I have chosen a man who understands what "in sickness and in health" really means!!

I hope you will be able to return to Egypt very soon! Inshaallah, you will find a way. In the meantime, take good care and enjoy your memories of the trip! :D

Do you see how big the sea is?

Do you see how big the sea is? My love for you is as big as the sea.

Do you see how far the sky is? My love for you is as far as the sky.

As big as the sea and as far as the sky I love you,

I waited for you, I called upon you, I drew you on the promenades,

You sorrow of my life, you tears of the flowers, you season of the birds,

How vast the forest is, my heart is as vast as the forest.

You who are drawn on my door, and drawn in my heart,

I waited for you a year, and throughout the year I would ask the walnut trees,

and I would see you in the sunny days, coming from the sunny days, and lost in the almond leaves,

How small is a tear, and I am just a tear in your way,

I want to vow a candle so that you would let me love you.

I think Alexandria may be the cleanest city in Egypt. Lol. I only went there for a day, but it was a relief. Anyway, glad you had a nice time. Wishing you more in the future.

I dont think that Alexandria is filthy at all Ihavequestions. And I have been to Port Said many times and didnt find it to cleaner than Alex at all. I think Alex is so great because of the fresh air and the beach especially walking on the beach at night. I miss Alex so much and cant wait to go back again.

When day turns into night .I look into your eyes . I see my future now .All the world and its wonder

This love wont fade away. And through the hardest days . I will never question us .You are the reason my only reason.

I'm blessed to find what i need in a world loosing hope. you are my only believe .

You make things right every time after time.....

I didn't say Alexandria doesn't have nice areas and, again, the areas nearest the sea are kept up for the benefit of tourists. The rest is filthy. When I came back to the US, after a year and a half of living there and seeing a whole bunch of the rest of Egypt, I flew into Detroit first and I was impressed because it was so clean.

Ihavequestions is right. It has nice areas as Cairo does too....however, if you travel blocks back in any inner city area of Egypt...filth and garbage. :wow: I don't know where ya'll live in the US to think that its "fresh and clean". Good lord!

Totally agree...I LOVE Alex, I LOVE Cairo and loved many areas I visited in the many times I was in Egypt...however, I would never ever say it is clean. Don't confuse your love for your SO's family and home with the fact that there is no sanitation plan/program in Egypt. Jeez louise....

When my husband arrived here in the US he couldn't believe how clean it was EVEN in NYC which he had always compared in his mind to Cairo. Not anymore...

Please don't even get me started on the streets and potholes, etc. Or how contruction is done there with total disregard to any safety standards.
