I am new to this post and very glad to have found this site a few months back. I need help with a ?.

We received the letter from U.S Embassy in Manila on Oct 24th that we can schedule the interview but make sure we have all the documents needed. On Nov 9th we went to the Japan Embassy in Manila and submitted for her police clearance which they stated could take 45 days to 3 months. I am unsure as to when do we need to make her interview appointment. Do we wait until she has her Japan Police Clearance or do we call and make appointment for about 3 months from now? I am just unsure how long we need to wait before trying to make interview appointment. I dont know what to do!

She is going to driving school now and once finished will apply for her NBI clearance and certificate of singleness.

This leaves the CFO class and medical which because of my ? above leaves me wondering when she should do this.

I know they have all our info because we had to get letter from them stating they needed the Japan Police Clearance from the Japan Embassy.

Please send advice and help!

Your fiancee spent at least 6 months in japan? (i guess so since they are asking for the clearance) This is something you should have been planning for. I know on the DOS site it says 2-3 months processing time. It sounds like they will be looking for it, so I would say to schedule your appointment out for about a month from now. you can always change it to later. I believe the medical is good for 6 months, so she can do that anytime now...of course you may want it within a couple of weeks of the interview appointment.

This is the way i would do it. I dont know if there is a "right" answer though.

They'll tell you you will have the clearance for 45-3 months but usually it gets there 1 1/2 months after. I got mine in a month. I scheduled my interview right after I had my Japan Police clearance. My other friend went to the interview without the clearance, she was given a white slip because of that. When she received her clearance, she submitted it personally and then a week after that, she got her visa.

Have your lady do St. Lukes ASAP in case problems pop up. Tell her to go Tuesday thru Thursday AFTER 12 noon.

She needs the MNL# NOA2, her passport, 2 ballpens and 4 PP pictures. Have her copy her PP as they will take it and she won't get it back until after her interview.

Tell her to wear loose fitting clothes and not to go when in her period.

Ok, So I can either wait until she has her Japan Police clearance and schedule the interview or I figured to maybe make it for 1st week of February which will give her time to complete everything else and that will be almost 2 1/2 months passed since we submitted for the police clearance.

I want her to do the medical exam also but was just unsure how long it will be good for if it is done to far in advance while waiting for the Japan police clearance.

Hi, as i understood, you need to get police clearance outside the country if you stay there for a year, not for 6 months.

Thanks.

Wrong.

Hi, as i understood, you need to get police clearance outside the country if you stay there for a year, not for 6 months.

What are the documents a K-1 applicant needs to submit?

A fiancé(e) is considered an intending immigrant and therefore must present documents similar to those required for an immigrant visa applicant. These include: a valid Philippine passport; a copy of the applicant's birth certificate issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO) and printed on NSO security paper; legal documents proving the termination of a previous marriage; NBI clearance; police certificates from all foreign countries where the applicant lived for at least six months starting at the age of 16; evidence of the relationship with the petitioner; evidence of financial support; a medical examination completed by St. Luke’s Medical Center Extension Clinic and visa photographs. Evidence must be presented that the couple met in person within the past two years before the petition was filed.

Oh.. so sorry for the confusion... K1 and CR1/IR1 is different.. for K1-they need police clearance if they live outside the country for more than 6 months.. but for CR1/IR1, they will need it, if they lived for more than a year...

for K1

OTHER COUNTRY POLICE CERTIFICATES. Applicants aged 16 years and older must also present police certificates from other countries where they have lived for six (6) months or more after reaching the age of 16

for CR1 / IR1

OTHER COUNTRY POLICE CERTIFICATES. Applicants aged 16 years and older must also present police certificates from other countries where they have lived for one (1) year or more after reaching the age of 16.

Thanks for correcting me... :-)
