Thanks:)

Before I forget, tell Yacine to bring you the molds and the pinchers (malaget) with him from Algeria. Those are hard to find here. :star:

do you have google images of them?

The molds look like this but there are so many different shapes and designs.

I don't have a pic for the tongs. They are small tongs with spiked ends. If you tell him you need malaget for the ca'ek he will know or his mom will. :P

Anyways, back to culture.. :P What is the most important non-religious tradition you want to pass down to you kids?

For me it's the tradition of making Ma'moul and Ca'ek (Walnut & Date stuffed cookies). This was always such a joy for me growing up. There would be several of doing it in an assembly line, similar to when a mexican family makes tamales. It's a long process but in the end you get to sit and enjoy your cookies..YUM

For Tamer and I, I think it will be music. I always wanted to be a concert pianist (darn fingers are too short to reach anything beyond a 9th made that near impossible) in addition to playing several other musical instruments, and Tamer had an unofficial career as a wedding singer back in Egypt. His dad was a jazz musician and a music teacher, and Tamer plays the lute as well.

So, I'm hoping that we'll be able to get our kids music lessons and give them a love and a ton of knowledge for music from both cultures. It would be wonderful if I could teach the kids piano and Tamer could teach them the lute and singing. But, knowing my luck, we'll have kids who hate music. Bah.

My dad is a musician, he plays the oud and had hopes that my brother or I would learn how to play an intsrument of some kind. I have heard that the music gene skips a generation which makes sense since my brother and I both tried to learn but just couldnt do it.

My daddy is a preacher so you can imagine the conversations we have had. After meeting and talking to Amr, my dad knows that Amr is a follower of God, does not matter what his religion is. When it comes down to it all, when we are all knocking on those pearly gates one day, I don't think God will say "are you Muslim, Christian, Jew, etc?" He will say "you are a follower of me."

"you are a follwer of me." that is how I think! It's a one on one relationship with God and only you can answer for yourself in the end :)Whatever the label is on the religion, the most important thing is to raise a household full of love and respect, the rest will follow suit! :)
