There were some posts here on VJ where folks were saying, "NOI is definitely not Muslim" but yet they'd said nothing at all about Al-Qaida or the Taliban. Apparently, those guys were allright... just not NOI.

like any large group of people that encompasses many different cultures, socio-economic standards, education, etc etc...you're going to have varying opinions and views. but trust and believe that most muslims don't tolerate this #######. that's like saying a lot of christians support the KKK when we certainly know that this is not the case. cheers.

If the government started limiting my Rights based on "Christian extremist terrorists" I think I'd be doing a little more to distance those particular groups from my particular religion. Just saying.

The Al-Qaida and the Taliban are a bunch of idiots with the equivalent of a third-grade education. They're nothing but stupid MOFOs who don't know sh*t about Islam or anything else. A good example is the torture and killing of animals, ask any Islamic scholar what happens to such a person when they die, guess where they go? That anyone gives al-Qaida or the Taliban the time of day is amazing. Can you imagine NBC, CBS, ABC or any other network asking a grown man with a third-grade education about neo-Keynesian economics and the state of the economy or even ask him about the Bible.

When NBC, CBS, ABC or other networks ask "experts" about these groups, what's the first thing they say? "Oh, these MUSLIMS are......" I've yet to see a single person on TV say what you just typed above. Even the "leaders" of Islam. (Which are a lot like the "leaders" Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton ) don't condemn Al-Qaida and the Taliban.

I'm not arguing whether they should or not, all I'm saying is Muslims here in the U.S. might want to start getting the word out a little better that groups such as Al-Qaida and Taliban are about as Muslim as NOI.

It's been years since 9/11 and I see fewer Muslims being interviewed about terrorism now than I did then. We have already discussed how the sensationalist media gravitates to Islamaphobes when they want to discuss Muslims; I'm listening to one on the radio right now on Coast to Coast America. I know that most Muslims are sick of being told they have to convince non-Muslims that they're not all terrorists because too many of them don't care what we have to say. They want to believe we're all out to kill them and "Islamicize" the west. But, most Muslims just get up every day and go to work and raise their families and do what most people do. They're not out writing books, have no representatives among radio or tv hosts, and have enough everyday problems that trying to convince stupid people that we don't all know each other or what all the other Muslims are up to is not a high priority. That's certainly the case with me and mine.

PS - the only leader of Islam is Allah. Islam has no hierarchy or central authority that can speak for most Muslims, much less all. It's intellectual laziness that provokes the media to try to create leaders among groups of "others" and endow them with a false "legitimacy" (notice that there are no White leaders). They don't want to do the work it takes to be accurate.

i understand where you're coming from, but certainly plenty of people have gone out and spoken against this issue and what not. and quite frankly, why the hell should I HAVE TO APOLOGIZE for these losers' actions?!? i share nothing in common with them save the faith, and even then, i am dubious about that as well. granted, i'm very very liberal and not from the east, but still. come on dude...seriously.
