Woohoo!!! Hope you guys have a safe, smooth trip home!

Good Luck!!

Hey Darkchilde Im going from Pearson as well on Monday!! Pretty excited.

I hope it's an easy entry. Are you carrying all your documents with you? Im just carrying my passport, the sealed envelope, and imp certificates that I didnt feel comfortable putting in the booked suitcase (marriage/birth certi).

You think I need to bring all the applications/forms we filled out, proof of relationship etc? I mean that's what the interview was for...They shouldnt ask for anything at the entry besides that sealed envelope.

Case Completed @ NVC: June 16th 2009

Medical in Toronto: Nov 3rd 2009

I carried all my docs with me just in case, but it was just the envelope and passport that they wanted. At all steps of this process, being prepared just makes sense, non?

I crossed at Peace Bridge (yes, Erie). It was really seeming as if they just do it all the time, the officer was very casual and easygoing about it.

Safe travels

K

They already have all of that. Everything you submitted is in that sealed envelope.

Maybe you two will see each other!

We're in!

We got in late last night and don't have internet at our apartment just yet (boosting internets from the parents ftw), so we haven't had a chance to post til now. Everything (overall) went relatively smoothly. We brought everything we could ever possibly need paperwork-wise with us, because...we'll, we've been trained by the K-1 process to be overprepared for everything.

When we pulled up to the first border officer (We'll call him officer McFail), we told him we were there to activate Spoom's K-1 visa, and that the car behind us was towing his U-Haul (my folks). He handed us our passports back and told us to have a good day. Spoom and I looked at each other for a second and then explained that we needed to go inside. He asked if we were applying for the visa, and we explained that no it was already in the passport, but we needed to activate it. He said that since the visa was already in the passport, he was clear to go. We tried to explain again that we needed to go inside, as we had a packet of paperwork from the consulate and needed to import his car. He said "Oh, you need to import a car. Well jeez, I can't read minds." So he radio'd over to the building and told us to go over and that his U-Haul full of stuff would meet us wherever we were going. Spoom asked if the U-Haul shouldn't be staying with us, since it was the stuff he was importing and the officer said "This isn't a parking lot, you know." Finally though, he agreed to send the U-Haul over and sent us (and our passports) to the building.

We got inside and waited for awhile. They called my parents up before us, but wound up working us all into one big group. Gave him the envelope, explained why Spoom had been turned back a couple times in Detroit years ago, and did another set of fingerprints. I think he asked a few other questions (address, etc). Typed a little, shuffled some paperwork, and then sent us down to customs to import the car. Spoom filled out the forms, showed him the letters, and then they sent us on our way. Didn't ever ask to see our list of stuff we were bringing across, or check the U-Haul.

I have to say, throughout all of this part of the process, everyone (except Office McFail) was really easygoing and nice. I don't know if it was a good day, or if all the people inside the building crack jokes and talk to everyone like that, but it was a refreshing change of pace :)

So yay! We're here. Now to unpack/clean/set up the apartment.
