For those of you who flew to meet your fiance for the visa interview and came back together, is there any advice you would give in terms of booking the flights? Did you just estimate your return date or did you book one way flights? Etc. We havent even received our NOA2 yet but Im saving my pennies to be there for his interview and hopefully fly back together. Thanks in advance for any advice

I think Nigeria is a high fraud country so it might take some time to process his visa and you might be put in AP, i would recommend buying a roundtrip ticket (they tend to be cheaper) for yourself that allows a free change or a very cheap change in case your trip gets lengthened or shortened because u never know exactly when you will have the visa in hand.

My SO and i lived in Cairo together and were going to file in Cairo and then I would be there for the interview and we would pack up our apartment and fly over together but due to the revolution we both left Cairo, so now I am in America and he is in Comoros. Since RT tickets to Comoros cost close to $4000, he has to do his interview alone and fly over alone(hopefully we get approved)

i think it makes a different if the person doesn't speak the language. my fiance doesn't speak english and has never flown so i'm planning on visiting him and then coming back together. i was planning on visiting him there one last time before he comes over anyways because when he does we won't be going back to visit for a long while. oh and i think it's different depending on the country the person is coming from. neways, i haven't even gotten my NOA2 so this is just us planning ahead.

GSummit - We are further along in our visa journey meaning my husband's interview is scheduled - YAY! I am in the midst of looking at the options of me flying to Lagos because I so want to be there for my husband's interview; be side-by-side supporting each other, however the cost for my airfare is $2K USD plus how do I choose the return date so that we fly back together when dealing with Lagos embassy. Then there's booking my husband's flight. Same issue of not knowing if he's approved how long until visa is available and one-way ticket costs as much as RT but the biggest difficulty is finding the $$ to pay for everything.

Congrats on the interview! :D How exciting! I havent found many tips on reserving those flights when trying to book them to fly back together but in researching airlines it seems Delta has the lowest international change fee if you end up having to change your return date. I also think they have the best cancellation policy for round trip flights when you dont use second half of the ticket. Im praying that I can book my trip to stay approximately 10 days and be able to have my fiance on the return flight with me. I'll keep you and your hubby in my prayers as well. Good luck!
