I went over to "pick up" my fiancee and travel back with her. I never thought about not doing the trip together, just figured it into the whole process.

She had never flown and I know how long that trip can be alone.

I was bringing my car and my husband didn't want me driving 1300 miles alone. Plus, I think he wanted to make sure I'd come. LOL

My husband flew up, rented a van and drove me and our 6 cats back 'home' to Atlanta. I didn't move until 5 weeks after my interview, though. I had too many loose ends I had to tie up before I could leave and he couldn't get the time off of work any earlier.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Our fiancees are "big girls" who can get on a plane in one city, and disembark the plane in your home city. I think it is more fun and romantic to greet the girl at POE. Plus, its more fun to use your vacation time and money to show her around your home town. Man makes 2 or 3 trips to foreign country to be with her, then she flies to be with him! This is the way to go.

I went back to Philippines and went to the Interview at Embassy, and at the time about 15 months ago the USEM was doing document verification and it was delaying most Visas.

So I had to cruise back home and it took about 30 days after the interview for the Embassy to release her Visa

I was looking forward to being with her when she stepped off the plane.

I had made 3 trips to PI during our 18 months courtship.

 My then-fiancee had been in the UK for 2 months with me, and had to fly home for work. Then a week later, I did the interview alone, and then 6 weeks after, I came over alone.

I would have liked to come home together as I was an emotional wreck but I'm proud of myself.

After 7 trips in a 2 year span to Ukraine, I decided that 1 more trip to accompany my wife to the interview & fly back home together would be great...besides we have a little boy (1 1/2 y.o. back then) and on itself it was a big challenge during the 10 hour flight back to the U.S....My wife could use all the help during the flight..Kids that young can get "cranky".
