I'm somewhat of a political junkie and thus check Gallup poll presidential approval ratings daily. Obama has just slid to below 50% for the first time. Rasmussen has had him there for a long time but that's because it uses likely voters. This is a poll of ALL ADULTS. That's huge.

yeah all that participated in the poll. i think if more poeple try to work with him than against him we can get out of this mess that we are in. by looking for things for him to do wrong there need to be suggestions on how to get this country back together, it did not just get messed up a year ago this was a if i must say done long before he might have even thought to run as president. so this polls are not getting bills passed or suggesting ways that we can get out of this mess. but why would they spend time working to get things right when they are too busy trying to see how many cigs he smoke a day or how long does he play basketball. really a waste of time.

The reasons why he's below 50 have nothing to do with smoking and basketball

His black magic is wearing off.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

More people have been working with Obama and they're called the majority party- the Democrats. They haven't done a very good job at righting the economy and people are getting tired of the healthcare and global warming talk when they'd like to see some movement on the economy. All the glowing coverage how wonderful Obama is doesn't change life for most people.

Making tough decisions as leader of the free world isn't very popular at times. Thank God it's not a popularity contest after a President is sworn in to serve.

Well... sometimes it is. The problem with those who'd rather be an obstruction to progress is exactly that. Most rational 'economists' (including those of us here that delve with more common sense in our analyses) likely understand that economic recoveries don't happen by magic and they certainly don't happen in a short amount of time.

Sour grapes can't go fresh.

And spraying perfume on turds doesn't help much.

Most economic indicators have dropped despite (or because of) Obama's flurry of activity. Unemployment continues to dog this administration but wouldn't know it by the news. Obama mortgage mitigation efforts are tiny compared to his promises. The stimulus package stimulated very little and most Americans still believe the unemployed are somehow building roads.

To be fair, Obama had no qualifications in business or economics nor any experience in making executive decisions. We got what we deserved and millions of people will pay the price. If he couldn't fix Bush's problems, he shouldn't have run for the office. Nobody is going to want to hear that line in 2012 and I'm sure 2010 is going to be a real wakeup call for the party in power.

tangential to this but...

that concept is lost on at least one municipal government, that of Mumbai (BMMC) who actually decided to perfume rubbish in the maximum-city's tips.

For the umpteenth time - Obama has embraced Keynesian Economics. Although you may find your token Right-leaning economists who are critical of such economic philosophy, most prominent economists are in Obama's corner on this...even Reagan had some Keynesian economists working for him. Most of the criticism from the Right over his economic policies are political hacks and not economists.

As for his knowledge of economics - I'm willing to bet he's got a much better grasp on economics than Bush could ever hope to, or even McCain. Reagan was no scholar on economics either, but what presidents do is surround themselves with economists who are...or at least we hope they do.

Leader of the free world?

Every time Obama opens his mouth abroad he reiterates that we are all "equals" and partners .. no one being the dominate leader,,,, now you reassign him back to "leader"....... Cool! I thought we would have to wait until 2012 for that position to be filled again.

Does that commonly used expression for the U.S. President make it hard for you to swallow when referring to Obama? Tsk, tsk, tsk. You still haven't gotten over your birther movement, have you Danno?
