I wanted to know how long a name check process take and I found "Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman" report. There is an interesting table in the report that shows no clearance has taken more than 3 month (as of may 2009) and that the majority of the cases were cleared in less than a month! (I am not sure if AP is the same as name check!). I also have spotted a few people in this website who were cleared in 25 to 30 days.

If you got a chance take a look at the pdf file.

The original report can be find here: http://www.dhs.gov/xabout/structure/gc_1245421061224.shtm

I don't know about not taking more than 3 months, because my Mom was placed on Name Check for 4.5 years and no one did any thing. until we took USCIS to Federal court and sued them.

That is also reflected in the table. Just last year, more than 4000 cases were cleared (They were in line for more than 33 month!).

but this year, 3 month has been the maximum wait time. I have attached the table to my first post. That is a good news for me, at least I know that the AP would take not more than 3 month!

Well, finally we are done with AP!:dance:

My expectation was 25-30 days but it took 34 days! but don't forget that we had the holidays! I believe the 30 days is the limit for most of the cases!

My understanding is that AP isn't simply just a name check in some countries. I believe it also includes home visits and family background checks.

So it's possible in Egypt that the name check will be done in 3 months but the other checks may take longer.
