Hi Good Morning. I was referred to this forum by my cousin. So I thought I would give this a shot.... any answer is better than nothing right now. So here it goes.....

My Uncle is stuck in Fiji. I'm not too familiar with immigration laws or the Visa process or the different types of Visa. But he's trying to come out here to Texas. Short stay... nothing long. Anyhow.... there seems to be a hold on the Visa approval b/c Fiji is stating that the last time he was here... back in 1991; there is something on his driving record that seems to be preventing him from getting an approval. Whether it is an outstanding ticket... or a DWI... or what have you? I'm not too sure. I've gone to the Local Police Department to see if they can pull up any records for his name... and none found. They did however inform me that any records older than 2 years are sent to Austin. It is absolutely ridiculous on how long the City of Austin can keep you on hold.

If Austin doesn't have any records on him... will a letter of clearance be sustainable for Fiji to grant entrance to the U.S.? will a letter from an attorney's office be any better?

many thanks for any help.

So he is applying for a visitor, a B2.

The US Consulate told him that he has an outstanding driving infraction.

They would have given him details, or he should ask for them.

Yes to the outstanding traffic violation. I'm not sure if it was the US Consulate? You may be right, but I'm not familiar with these topics. The only thing Fiji told him was the date of the occurence.

Sorry.... i'm not too helpful on the subject, huh. lol. I'm just lost. Have no clue who to call, where to call, who i need to speak to.

thank you for responding. I appreciate it.

He needs to get full details, nothing you can do without them.
