With my fiance arriving Dec 12th, I am wondering what other people have done to welcome their fiance home. He has about a 10 hour flight from Holland to California.

Originally, I thought about having a small party to welcome him home, but then decided he will probably be too tired to deal with that. I thought about placing banners on the freeway bridges between the airport and my home saying WELCOME HOME JOHN! Then decided not to do that either.

What did you do, or what are you planning to do to welcome him or her home?

Get a nice bottle of Champagne and cook a nice dinner.

Nothing like food after a long flight.

I was dead tired and looked like a wreck after more than 20 hrs flight and the previous sleepless and stressful nights, so all I wanted was sleep!! LOL.... When I arrived at the arrival hall, he hugged and lifted me up!! Then we went home and he made lasagna from scratch and garlic bread while I took a warm shower... and we had some dessert and wine. We just cuddled and just wanted to be together alone. You know after being separated for so long, all you want is alone time with your beloved. I was so tired and fell asleep pretty early that night. I was just glad he didn't plan a party or something because I know I won't be able to enjoy it. His friends then organized this cookout thing at a plantation over the weekend to welcome me... it was really nice :)

Cheers..

I traveled about 14 hours and was greeted with a big hug and help with my cases.

He took me to McDonald's as it's become a funny tradition (being so tired and hungry after the travel) that we had to finalize the last time I would have to leave for months.

Then we got in bed together and watched our favourite comedy shows, and he stroked my hair until I fell asleep.

Perfection. :)

I was very emotional that night after saying goodbye to my best friends, so I wouldn't have liked a party or anything.

I was kind of thinking a party would be overwhelming too. I was thinking of a welcome home banner and maybe some balloons too...

I am kinda baffled as to what to do. His flight is arriving around 12:25...then however long homeland security takes at LAX. But we should be back to the house around 3 in the afternoon.

We had some friends meet at airport with signs and ballons. Went to dinner on way home and then a short tour of the area between the airport, downtown, and home. He wanted to see Busch Stadium and the Arch since I talked about them so much and had given him postcards. I showed him where the local gas stations, park, and stores were (cause I had to work the next few days and thought he might go for walks). Then, we went home and chilled.

i have been wondering what to do too :)

Cook (if you're not flying) or order some good food and relax the first day, don't be too overwhelming especially if it's a long flight.

Then, do something special the day after. If you're the party type, you can throw a party. If not take a day trip somewhere cool... St. Louis? We went to NYC but I'm less than 1 hour away.

I think the first day should be a relaxing one anyway. For both of your sake.
