I love FPS than actual hunting with a rifle. I can shoot virtual people.

a perfect example of what is wrong with people in America today. no sense of reality or perspective.

i make a flippant remark about bashing someone with words and get slammed for it.

this clown makes remarks about enjoying pretending to shoot people.

virtual people. there is a difference.

NB is virtual on vj ....

exactly what i was thinking.

I have no clue what you are talking about here; but the word "gun" perked up my ears. I recently passed my hunter's education, got my small game & my migratory bird licenses and hunted a few times. Last week, I watched the most beautiful 8 pt. buck walk right by me......too bad it was the day before deer season.

I'm looking to buy some rifles and shot guns. Hopefully, I get a good deal too.

welcome to the club. new blood is sorely needed.

spending time in the woods, and watching the creatures of it in their natuaral habitat, is the most rewarding part of hunting. it is good for the soul. it gives you a sense for your place on this rock that geeks who sit behind flat screens all day long will never have. taking game is just a small part of the experience.

i remember sitting in a tree stand one morning and watching a doe and her fawns browse the edge growth underneath me. i was within 15 feet of them for a good 10 minutes. they spoke to each other, sounding almost like sheep in their bleating. they passed on, and a buck came crashing thru the brush a half an hour later. i took him, but little remember the shot. i remember the doe and her fawns clearly, 30 years later.

I've been out 4 times now. The first time I just watched the doves fly overhead (and sometimes fall). The last 2 times, I shot AT squirrels. I am not the best shot yet. I practiced on some paper plates and tin cans after. Think we are going muzzleloader for some deer soon. And, some more squirrels with shotgun. I have a .410 right now. Getting used to it so I can move up a little in the near future.

But, yeah, I get exactly what you are saying. I often just sit there and enjoy the peace and beauty. Watching my friend shoot is just fine with me. I'm not skilled enough to rush anything yet. Don't see anything wrong with just enjoying the scenery most times.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

i rather enjoy galactic scale genocide in master of orion. but that's not hurting anyone, just virtual civilizations.

virtual animals, virtual people, virtual sentient species have virtually no rights. and i don't believe any of those have signed up for vj membership.

Who's the bigger clown that lives in the woods.?

He's getting a practitioner license, and yet don't realize that EKG machines are also built by my company. The signal processing chip that is. I did many of the preanalysis of by researching different signal pulses from the veins so I can capture them, convert them to electrical signals that could be understood by the software.

CAT, MMR...etc....Machines nowadays in Medicine are made by engineers and scientists.

I work in bio-technology engineering as well. Had that in profile.

a 410? that's a big part of the problem. the typical 1/2 oz 410 load has half as many shot pellets as the typical 1 oz 12 gauge load. because of this the distance you can reliably kill small game at is reduced severly. it takes 2-4 #6 pellets to kill a squirrel, or 3-5 #7 1/2, or 4-6 #8. it's hard to find a 410 gun that will pattern that well on a small taget like a squirrel at more than 25-30 yards, and few squirrel are stupid enuf to let you get closer than 40 yards.

buy some # 7 1/2 and # 8 shells and a sunday newspaper. trace the outline of a squirrel in life size on a dozen pages. tape them one at a time to a target stand (big cardboard box) and fire at them at different ranges (15-20-25-30-35 yards), being sure to mark each page with the distance and shot size. compare them at your leisure to see if the center ( densest area) of the pattern is where you are aiming, and at what range the pattern density will reliably yield enuf hits. thru this exercise you can learn if adjusting your point of aim will improve your kill probability, and at what ranges you can reliably kill.

many shotguns do not center pattern at point of aim. many pattern a specific size of shot more uniformly than another. if i were you, i would go with #8 in a 410, or trade up to a 12 gauge with modified choke, or with choke tubes. the mossberg 500 is a good gun for less than $300, and the mossberg maverick 88 is a great deal for the beginner, at under $200 with choke tubes. in 12gauge i would use 7/8 or 1 oz loads with anything from #6 to #8 on squirrels. longer range requires the larger pellet size. because so few people use 410, shells fo it tend to cost more than 12 gauge.

baschieri and pellagri (link below) markets a good subsonic 7/8 or 1 oz 12 gauge load that has low recoil and is very effective. they are inexpensive by the half case (8 bux a box), and will ship direct to your door. i shoot squirrels with #7 1/2 in this loading beacause i usually use older double guns with 2.5" chambers. this load is good from squirrel, rabbit, turkey head shots, pheasant under 40 yards, and can be used for doves, though i prefer #8 for doves, with 300 pellets per oz, as opposed to 260 per oz in # 7 1/2.

7 1/2 will also kill groundhogs at under 25 yards reliably, or rabid foxes and coons at same distance. in the 1980's atlanta

georgia had too many coons, and was trapping them live. some moron on the pa game dept thought we didn't have enuf in penna, so they brought several hundred up and released them in south central. within 3 years our rabid animal incident report had increased 800%. it has tapered off since then, but living in the country, you should keep a pump shotgun by the door loaded with # 7 1/2 to dispatch any small animal you see staggering thru the pasture. especially so if they are typically shy animals like fox, #######, possum. neighbor's barn cats and stray dogs are also fair game if they appear "drunken" and have no recognition of you within 50 yards.

Expect to pay a hefty price for those machines. Plus, any new research studies from Tufts Medical, BU Medical, we implement many new technologies. Those machines are generally not owned by the person using it.

Heck, we deal with many other stuff other than those equipment. PCR machines used to copy DNA fragments for analysis, etc...Those machines are ridiculously expensive.
