I just love the restaurants that add on the 15-18%, but don't bother telling you that it has been included. It's dishonestly tring to illicit an extra tip on top of that

It's interesting having to tip here. Wasn't used to that in Aus.

Waiters get a good $15 an hour, so no need to tip.

It does make the service better but you also end up paying much more for eating out.

That was pretty stupid, IMO, of the bar to call the cops and have them arrested. Kick them out...tell them not to come back again, but knowing that the charges will not hold did nothing but opening the couple to sympathy.

i doubt they'd return anyways given the crappy service stated in the op.

Regarding the couple that was arrested for not paying the tip. The story states that management was willing to comp the $73.00 food bill, which was not done, yet they were willing to call the police over the $18 tip. We're supposed to belive the comp offer? Lets see $73 vs. $18...

I noticed that they gave out the phone number to the place in one of the yelp comments. I tried to call and see if they took reservations, however, caller ID gave me away. Damn you caller ID!!!!

Something about this story bothers me.

They said the bill was $73 and there was a mandatory tip of 18%, right? 18% of $73 works out to be $13.14, not $16. Even a 20% tip on $73 wouldn't be high enough as that'd come out to $14.60. You'd need to tip 22% in order to get $16.06 (and that's six cents over the amount claimed).

Unless there's some "hidden tax" the article isn't explaining, the numbers simply don't make sense. Of course... this entire story doesn't make sense.
