generally speaking, does nvc schedule interviews on a first come first serve basis?

so if i miss the scheduling week by a couple days will i be among the first set to get an interview when the next scheduling week comes around?

I read somewhere that they go by a priority date based on when you filed... Since you are May, you should be near the front of the line!!!

Ha, I wish. But knowing the government, they'll find some way to make it otherwise.

Our case was designated "complete" by the NVC on Sept 3 09. I have yet to be booked for an interview in Montreal. Trying to be strong but it looks like we won't be together for Christmas or our 1st wedding anniversary on Jan 2. :crying:

I can't vouch for all embassies, but as far as Manila goes, they appear to be doing it by date of case completion at NVC. I tracked the early December interviews, and they all line up by case complete date. Of course, it's also possible that the priority dates also line up exactly, but without knowing everyone's priority date there would be no way to know. Also an email I got from the embassy indicated our interview would be scheduled in the order it was completed.

It's also possible that there are different scheduling systems for different embassies, based on the volume of applications or the particular embassy's preference for handling cases.

Incidentally, we're on for Jan. 4. We moved it back from Dec. 9 so that I can attend, although I don't know for sure if I'll be able to extend my leave from work until then.

Hey all...

Yep. I would really like a January interview date. We've been waiting since August 10th, that's when our case was first complete. Canada is really dropping the ball on this one. I was just thinking how am I going to cope if people from Canada who finished AFTER me start getting dates?

I just read here that it's based on your priority date? I didn't think that was applicable to CR/IR1s and that our interviews are scheduled based on when we finished at the NVC.

Gah. Am having a crappy day/week and really getting bummed about the fact that we've been waiting so long.

SO... count me in. But who knows with Canada how much longer they're going to make us wait and the worst thing is? IT doesn't even really make sense.

Hopefully we will get something for January. They have to clear the backlog sometime soon, I hope!

It is crazy to make us wait this long!
