Ok so my mom has received her invitation packet-her interview has been scheduled! We are confused as to why my dad has not received his packet yet-when the Embassy contacted them they made it clear both mom and dad were being scheduled... Moms packet came two days ago-is it normal for them to come separately? Getting a little nervous about that.

My question though is this: in the list of documents they are asking to bring they say "Unless previously submitted to NVC by Petitioner (me) please bring: ds230, affidavit of support, translated birth certificates etc etc and then the list goes on. Everything they mentioned I DID PREVIOUSLY SUBMIT TO NVC. But I am just worried and want to have a VERY CLEAR answer that my parents definitely do NOT need to bring the above mentioned documents since I did previously send them to NVC.

What worries me is reading stuff like this :

The applicants should not expect that any information on the documentation submitted by the petitioner to the National Visa Center and received by the Embassy be provided by the Embassy at the applicant's, petitioner's or third party's request prior to the interview.

Please note, that any additional relevant information may be requested at a consular officer's discretion during interview to ensure that a visa is properly issuable.

My 2 cents: if you submitted all of the originals to NVC, then technically, your parents do not need to bring anything other then medical exam, passport and an interview letter. However, to be on the side of caution, I would grab copies of everything you submitted. I mean, you guys have to decide what you wanna do...

Good luck!

I agree with Oksana, I would bring copies of it all if you have the strength to carry it. I know it is a lot, but I think it is best to be prepared for anything. If they don't ask for it, fine, if they do then you have it with you rather than having to reschedule a interview and come back. With the holidays upon us, the embassy will be running very little right now, so any delay could mean next year.

Best to err on the side of caution and bring the copies. Just my opinion.

In almost every phase of the immigration process they ask you to bring everything you ever submitted in case it is needed. Just about all of us have complied with this and generally it is never needed. But, considering what's at stake here, why not be cautious and bring it all. It is a pain in the *ss but if it will speed up the process, then do it.

yes i hear you guys, and totally agree with all of you. The reason I am worried is because in the list of documents they mention to bring (again, unless previously submitted) they say, for example, BIRTH CERTIFICATE-ORIGINAL,COPY,TRANSLATION INTO ENGLISH. Or POLICE CERTIFICATE,ORIGINAL,TRANSLATION INTO ENGLISH...and so on. Well, my parents do have the originals of those documents, and can certainly make a copy-no big deal. But, they do not have the translations for the documents. When I submitted all of this stuff to NVC, I did have the documents translated and notorized/certifed, but I am the one who has the translated documents in my posession.

So my point is, its not as easy for them to bring the stuff "just in case", because they basically would have to take ALL the documents to get translated. Again-clearly, considering what is at stake we will do anything. Just sucks not knowing if they are going to be doing completely unnecessary work/spending $ on translations.

Look around on the Embassy website. I do know for the K-1 visa section it is bolded that all documents require translations.

Can you merely emaill them to them?
