As the topic said, I'm curious about English K-1'ers. I'm just interested in asking some general questions:

- When I need to get a Police report for my interview, is that a essentially CRB cheque? If so, do I need to go back to places I've lived in the past five years and get one from each Police station? (I'm not sure how that works)

- I was told I need a list of vaccinations/shots I've already had, how will I go about obtaining this? Would it be obtainable by asking my GP for the information?

- And last of all; Will I need my birth certificate for the interview? If so, I only have my smaller original birth certificate, I don't have the original larger copy, will this effect its validity?

Much oblidged to any answers I receive, thanks in advance.

Yes, you have to have a police certificate from every place you have lived in the past 5 years. Yes you can contact your GP for your vaccination records and actually get the vaccinations from you GP it is much cheaper in some cases then getting them at the medical and you will HAVE to have the long version of your birth certificate for the interview that has your parents names on it. If you take the short form, they will request it and not issue the visa until you have it...Hope this helps..

Hi,

Provided that the police certificate is just for the UK, you can obtain it from ACPO in a couple of weeks: http://www.acpo.police.uk/certificates.asp

If your GP provided you with all the shots then you should be able to obtain a vaccination record from them which you should take to your medical. If you do require any of the shots, your GP should be able to do them or they can be done at the medical.

You will need the full birth certificate that shows your parents details for your interview. You can obtain it, either from the local Registrar from the district that you were bon in or online from the General Register Office: http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

Hope this helps!

Yes, it's just for the UK; thanks for the link(s). Do you have any idea which shots I will need? Or is there a way of finding out? Or is it merely a matter of making an appointment with my GP and asking him to update me with all my shots, if so, is it normally all done at once?

Thank you for the information, you've both been a lot of help.

Below is the link to the Medical Information...read through it and you will find the portion about the injections. We printed that page and took it to the GP and they updated my husband with what he was missing and then provided us with a listing of all the injections he has received.

Nope, it's not a CRB check. It's one specifically for visa applicants, and you apply through the link a PP gave you. It has to be valid within 1 year of your interview and doesn't take too long to get. Best waiting a little while until you apply for it.

If you are absolutely, hand on heart certain that you have NEVER had any situations with the police (including juvenile cautions) then you will be fine. If there is any history with the police, then you should get your certificate now, see what it says and if you get a 'No Live Trace' result, start planning on getting an Access Certificate, which takes about 40 days, if I remember correctly. Allie n Nigel will be able to tell you more, if needed.

The "Packet 3" you receive from the London Embassy is actually just a link to this web page: http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/iv/iv_15.html (or it was about 6 months ago, anyway).

It tells you everything you'll need for the interview and how to go about getting it :-)
