I'm sure I've read on here many times that biometrics isn't required for an 8 year old child. Just received the letters and she got one that has her appointment scheduled for 12/1. Do we just ignore it or should we go for the appointment if we don't receive any other notice from uscis? I thought I read here that other people have gotten appt. letters for children and later received a cancellation notice. I'm wondering because I was thinking of trying to do an early walk in for my wife but I don't want to pull our daughter out of school to go if we get denied the early appointment. As well as, I don't want to make two trips if my wife can walk in early and then we find out our daughter must go to her appointment at the scheduled time. Any ideas? Thanks

The 8 year old doesn't need biometrics. We got an appointment for our 13 year old (under 14 is the rule) at the time. Plus it was the day after Alla's...go figure. We brought him along to Alla's biometrics and I pointed out he wasn't 14. They said he didn't need biometrics but that "he will have to come back when he is 14" I said "OK, send me an appointment when he is 14" Guess what? He is now almost 15, has his green card and no appointment for biometrics. Imagine that.

I wouldn't ignore it, but you do not need it either. They stamped our sons appointment letter and sent on the "Biometrics" forms. My guess is, once the biometrics letter is generated (even in error) they need to come "full circle" and at least report it was not needed.

Unfortunately in this process, when they make a mistake, YOU have to correct it.
