Hey folks :)

Tomorrow I'm heading up to London to get Spoom and bring him to the US (finally!). Because we're moving all his stuff, we've got two cars - an SUV pulling his "stuff" in a U-haul and his car, which we're importing. We have the letter from GM and insurance and registration in his name for the car, and his boxes are all listed and itemized and all that fun stuff.....

My question is, does he need to be in the car that's pulling the U-haul, the car he's importing, or does it not matter? I get the feeling we're being a little overly worried here, but I just don't want anything to go wrong :)

ya I was told by the woman at ford that if we are going in two cars to make sure I was at the border first and that my mom was behind me with the truck, if we entered seperatly(cars between us) or she entered first they might try and give us problems. Apparently the woman had a bad experience herself with that happening. Suggest trying to drive slow to get rid of any cars between you guys when you get to the border so you can be one behind the other.

You'll be fine as long as you're right behind. Let him go first in his car so he can present whatever paperwork and tell them that you're right behind with his stuff. If you do get separated it shouldn't be a huge issue providing he's very clear that you're driving X car with a U-Haul trailer, and you're not half an hour behind him. A couple of cars inbetween should be okay unless the BG is having a really bad day. Agree ahead of time on what lane you're going to use so you are definitely in the same lane at least.

When I crossed at the Peace Bridge this last Saturday with the UHaul I crossed in my already-imported car first, told him Steve was right behind in the UHaul with all my stuff, and here was the list if he was interested (he wasn't), and he was fine with that. Funny thing was, he didn't know what my endorsed visa was and was asking me where my I94 was. Had to explain that now I was a PR, I didn't need an I94 anymore, Anyway, he never opened the trunk of my car (that I was driving) and only peeked inside the back of the UHaul once Steve got to the booth for about 2 seconds.

And of the four times I crossed with stuff I was importing, only once was I asked for The List of goods.
