Paying Visa Fee at Bangkok US Embassy

It looks like my fiancee will have to send a visa fee payment of $355.00 along with DS-230 (Part 1, unsigned). Can I write and date the check in advance payable to them from me, and send it to her to enclose in her package? Of should the check come directly from her account?

A read of the embassy instruction packet is as follows:

APPLICATION FEE: Each K Visa applicant must pay in Thai baht the equivalent of US$131.00 non-immigrant visa fee, which is non-refundable, at any Thai Post Office. Please mail in the receipt which is valid for one year.

YMMV

No. The K1 visa fee is $131. It is paid in local currency at a Post Office in Thailand. You can provide the money to your fiancee as you see fit. There is no visa fee of any kind that is $355. That's the filing fee for an I-130 petition.

Thanks, that was very fast responding. I appreciate it.

There's a direct link to the postal sites that will accept the fee.

I'll send it to you tonight because I don't have it here.

That way you won't go to every post office, but you may get lucky if she goes

to a major one (like the one near the consulate). She should be able to find one

or two near where she lives. I would guess the main post office in each province

will have to have that.

Thanks Pushbrk!

That's the link (I think I sent it to you by PM earlier this week).

Post office list starts on page 5.

PS-

It shouldn't be so hard to get basic information like that.

I forget what or where my original source was, but it

should appear very clearly on the BKK site and it either

does not appear there or is buried in an array of links.

FYI, the IV/packet 3 checklist claims (or at least it did in June) that you can pay the fee at any post office. My wife told me that this is not true, and she appears to be right. Looks like you have to stick with the post offices listed in the non-immigrant visa checklist (the link posted by pushbrk).

K1: 01/15/2009 (mailed I-129F) - 06/23/2009 (visa received)

AOS: 08/08/2009 (mailed I-485, I-765, & I-131) - 10/29/2009 (received GC)
