Okay wrong. Dad got his papers wayyyy wayyy long ago (years ago) and parents are divorced for almost 3 years but dad had his papers b/4 he married mom but neways do not feel like being on this lame website any more it's point less. I'm the type of person who likes to talk to positve people.

Ah - so Dad has been a legal permanent resident for more than 5 years? COOL ! He can file for USC NOW , then when he's granted US Citizenship, he can file for his mother on an I-130 petition.

You'll find the people on this board MOSTLY positive about LEGAL immigration. If you were looking for people who are positive about ILLEGAL ALIENS residing in the USA, I would suggest to you that you've come to the wrong place.

There's still a LEGAL method for your Grandmother to come - whats preventing your father from starting the process to become a US Citizen?

Personally I think illegals should get a non wavierable lifetime ban the first time they get picked up. That might keep them from trying to shove their way to the front of the immigration line.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Well the person who gave me this website and told me about it was an IMMIGRATION LAWYER!

I hope yer not retaining this IMMIGRATION LAWYER - as he's given you the wrong information. Note I did not say 'bad advice' - but WRONG INFORMATION. If you've retained him or her (paid some monies ) would you feel comfortable in any additional payments for additional immigration-related legal services ?

bsmerelda - are you saying 'Dad's got his papers' - to mean - Dad's a Naturalized US Citizen? If that's the case, he can file an I-130 petition for his mother, on a IR-5 petition.

No lawyer required. Heck I even suggest that YOU assist him with filling out the paperwork and filing the petition.

Good Luck !

I am just so lost as to why you all do not want illegals to come over here because from what I was told this website is for illegals trying to get their papers!!! I mean come on....#######?

Perhaps it was a 'reading problem' ? You joined yesterday, right?

At the bottom of every page, here, on this web portal , is the statement:

VisaJourney.com does not condone immigration fraud in any way, shape or manner. VisaJourney.com recommends that if any member or user knows directly of someone involved in fraudulent or illegal activity, that they report such activity directly to the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement. You can contact ICE via email at Immigration.Reply@dhs.gov or you can telephone ICE at 1-866-347-2423

If you'd like some pointers about your father filing the I-130 for his mother, hey - come on back, make a new post somewhere (or read the Guide online, here ).

In response to the person who said that the original poster wouldn't find support for illegal immigration on this board, um, I'm on here and while I wouldn't exactly say I "support" illegal immigration, I can perfectly understand why somebody would try to get into a richer country by any means necessary.

The vast majority of people who've already commented seem to think that coming to the US illegally is a decision people make lightly. These people risk their lives to get here; sometimes leave their spouses and children at home, many thousands of miles away; and do shitty jobs. All so they can send money back to their families to give them a better life. They do what I would probably do, too, if I was sick and tired of seeing my family live in poverty.

And as for the suggestion that people should always go the legal route....Come on! I'm an educated woman, a native English speaker with a Master's degree, and it took me months to save up the $1600 to apply for AOS. If I had to struggle to do things "legally", I don't know how on earth you expect, for example, some poor man from a tiny village in Mexico to do it. Sure, he could just stay in Mexico but, quite frankly, I admire people who do whatever it takes to help their family.

Do you honestly think that illegal aliens, especially Mexicans, come over here and have an easy life?! Really?! There's a huge amount of anti illegal immigration sentiment in this country, and the opinions expressed in this thread are a perfect example of that. Do you really think that illegal immigrants enjoy being hated, and having to worry all the time about being caught?

Every time I come onto this website, I get so disillusioned by the comments I read. You know, the US really could be a great country because there is just so much wonderful diversity here, but all too often I see people harbouring such resentment towards people who are different from them. What happened to your compassion for your fellow man?! What happened to putting yourselves in another's shoes and imagining what his/her life is like before judging that person's choices?!

I know that Europe isn't perfect, but it was only when I arrived here that I encountered so many hate-filled and intolerant people. I really think you can do better, America.

I stop paying attention to the diversity when the person is an illegal alien, here for illegal work activities. I have no heart-felt position on them helping their families - they are illegal aliens, and have already broken the laws of the USA to be in the country, further breaking more laws to work illegally.

It's not an issue , for me, of 'being different' , from racial, ethnic, religious or food choices. It's solely an issue , for me, of each illegal alien in the USA, making the wrong decision to be here to 'help the family', in the first place.

I embrace diversity, but only if yer legally in the USA. Otherwise, I'm a calling ICE.

I don't need to put myself into another person's shoes - especially if they are breaking the laws of the USA - I'd happily take their shoes from them, and call ICE to come get them.

I understand your challenge, but in the same breath, yer not here illegally.

Well, you don't think I would LOVE to get my finance his papers legally if I could? Yes I would so do it in a heart beat but unfortunaly the way the law is set up he will never be able to do it :(

Are you saying that yer living with an illegal alien? Isn't that 'harboring a fugitive from the law' ? I guess he's not a fugitive until he's actually arrested, right? hmmmmm

Yes, I'm not here illegally...and I'm also white, highly educated and fairly privileged which is precisely why I'm able to apply for AOS in the first place.

WOAH! that's a racially loaded comment! I understand your previous comments that you've made and I most definitely see your point.... but why do you need to play a race card? why do you need to make a "white" comment???

there are hundreds of people with different ethnic backgrounds that are going through the immigration process not just rich white people

I'm white and I'm offended by this comment, I can't imagine what someone with a different ethnic background would feel!

My apologies if I offended your sensibilities, or made a posit that goes against your personal beliefs.

Obviously, I'm never thinking of YOUR personal beliefs as I write in this thread (I DO HOPE ITS OBVIOUS )..

But - I do apologize, profusely - bow in the dust, even, if I've offended you.

If I've not offended you - wei - share a pint o stout?

Tonight their was a conference that took place talking about the Immigration Reform law that needs to be passed in the new year to help illegals get their papers!!!! If you interested in helping call Bob Inglis at 202-225-6030 and leave a message to him saying you support the Immigration Reform law.

Change needs to happen and with every ones help it can happen.

Yes, I think theirs nothing wrong with illegals getting theirs papers if they pay their taxes and stay out of trouble. I think they have a right to work and reach for happiness like any body elese. It doesn't matter where you were born or where you are from, we all have a right to reach happiness.

This is absurd. First they should be arrested, deported, and THEN, they could apply to get in like the rest of us.

They should be forced to suffer the agonizing wait that those of us who are trying to legally enter the country do.

I pay taxes. I'm an American citizen, so what? They broke the law. Period. Immigration reform is absolutely necessary to make it easier for people to legally

enter the country. NOT GIVE PAPERS TO ILLEGALS.
