This goes for any religion. Do you see anywhere in the bible where is says to blow up abortion clinics? I am not muslim but I am arabic. Islam is a religion about peace just as any other religion is, there are fanatics that interpret the religion differently. Honor Killings exist in my country (Jordan) but are rare. I can't tell you that in Jordan all the honor killings are done by Muslims, because I'm sure there are Christians that have so in the past as well. However its not culturally accepted there and very rare.

I agree with you- in any religion there are those "bad seeds" who interpret things differently and who condone violence and give a bad name to that religion. It happens in everything there will always be those who see things way differently and who unfortunately allow us to generalize a whole religion as it's most violent and not so peaceful "sect".

EXACTLY. It's not about religion, its not about culture, its about some crazy psychos who actually think they are protecting thier families honor by carrying out such a crime.

During the days of terrorism years ago it may have happend, BUT, the terrorists killed anyone they could get their hands on, regardless of age, race, sex, or religion. Hmm... Seems like there's much equality in that statement... a man will recieve just as much punishment as woman for the same crime... Although the enforcement does not coincide with current culture in many ME countries.

Hmmm.. that says keep them in the house... does that mean stabbing someone to death or throwing them off a cliff? No..... and then at the finish... open some way for them... means leave it in God's hands.

I just find it very strange that non-muslims fail to mention all the rights that women ARE given in Islam and the Qu'ran..

Icey, although I am not Muslim, I do know that the quran is written in arabic. Most arabic when translated, loses alot of the meaning. I believe this is also the case with the quran, is it not?

I'm sure that you recognise that exactly the same criticisms can be levelled at pretty much most religions (maybe with the exception of Buddhism). Take, for example, Christianity and the number of atrocities committed in its name, from the Crusades and the Spanish Inquisition through to the ongoing Protestant/Catholic bloodshed in places such as Northern Ireland. And as for endorsing this behaviour with quotes from the Bible, how about "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth"

In spite of all this, I wouldn't describe Christianity as a violent religion just because a few bloodthirsty psychos use it to legitimise their own unspeakable actions.

Well some people obviously doesn't understand their own holy book very well, that's all I can say.
