I live about 30-40 minutes from the Windsor-Detroit border.

It's a decent city but definitely not the best Canada has to offer!

They have this one street (Ouellette) full of clubs and such where all the 19 and 20 year old Americans flock to so they can drink legally. I went many times and had some great experiences. Also went to the Windsor casino many many times.

I haven't been back in a good 5 years but would like to return one of these days.

I was thinking about this when I go to Ann Arbor in a few weeks. How long is the border crossing?

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

The actual crossing shouldn't be more than 5 minutes if your papers are in order.

But waiting in line to get to the Inspection point has taken me over an hour. I've heard of 2-3 hour waits recently at crossings in Detroit/Windsor, Rainbow Bridge, Queenston/Lewiston etc.

I live just about in the middle of Ann Arbor and Detroit. I am closer to Ann Arbor.

It takes me about 15 minutes to get to Ann Arbor and about 30 minutes to Windsor so your total from Ann Arbor would be about 45 minutes, probably more like an hour with traffic!

What brings you to Ann Arbor? I love Ann Arbor!!! Way better city than Windsor. Ann Arbor is one of the best cities in the area.

Oh. How long is the process of crossing? I've crossed about 75 times it seems. I was madly addicted to going to the casino when I was 19 and that summer alone I must have went at least 50 times.

I have probably been searched 20 times. If you go when there is not a lot of traffic then you can zip right through. They will ask you two or three questions and then say you are all set. If they give you a piece of paper and tell you to pull to the side for a search then it will delay entry by a good 10 minutes. I'd say average wait time is about 10 minutes. With search can be up to 30. If you are lucky then just a few minutes.

It's a good country. :)

I've lived in Vancouver most of my life, but spent my first twelve years in a town called Salmon Arm.

My favorite place in Canada is my family's cabin in a little town called Anglemont on Shuswap Lake. I love going up there in the summer and swimming, suntanning, water-skiing and just generally relaxing.

I'm sure I'll miss Vancouver (and the cabin) when I move down to Washington D.C. Not that I regret moving, of course. ;)

(Oh yes, and Charles...good call on Rush.)

Hmmm.

I'll be visiting UM for some experiments at a collaborator's lab. Having the U of I experience down... UM should be rather similar... but I was maybe hoping to at least cross over for some canned maple syrup FTW. LOL

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
