Not many people visit or know about where I come from in Canada. I'm from Saskatoon Saskatchewan. "Land of Living Skies". The prairies. Where it feels like you can touch the sky, where it is always windy because there is nothing to buffer the wind. Where you know your neighbours, and everyone comes together to help each other out in time of need. The birthplace of Gordie Howe and Joni Mitchell. The birthplace of probably the most unique part of being in Canada, the Canada Health Act, which is a publicly funded health care system. The father of this, Tommy Douglas, was from Saskatchewan. It's the only public funded health care in the world that has statutory tariffs for medical services that cannot be exceeded.

I spent a year in Saskatchewan one Summer :D - I grew to love the prairies where you can see the postman coming the day after tomorrow. Standing outside looking around it felt like you could feel the curve of the earth as it fell away and surrounded you with sky. Wind - heck, yes! During the summer it felt like you were in a blast furnace - but it was an invigorating heat, not a draining heat because the air was so dry. Unfortunately, the mosquitoes have also learned how to hang on in the wind!

One of my most spectacular memories (and I have several from those 5 months in Saskatchewan working for the Provincial Parks Department) was driving from Regina to Winnipeg for the weekend. Behind us the sun was setting in a spectacular array of rose and gold. We were driving into a thunderstorm - and far ahead on the horizon we could see the lightning flare out of the burnished dark clouds in streaks of brilliant red and gold, reflecting the setting sun. Absolutely incredible!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Ian Hanomansing. Enough said.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.
