They may not bother you, but they'll probably try to get your wife... :P

I've never had a problem going through VN Passport control either way, but alot of other Viet Kieus, including my friends, have..

CR1/IR1 Timeline:

GENERAL INFO

[*]12-xx-2007 - 1st Trip (6wks) & Met him halfway around the world

[*]03-xx-2008 - Got engaged - two people on opposite sides of the world

[*]05-xx-2008 - 2nd Trip (2wks) - Engagement/Marriage/Consummation

[*]06-12-2008 - Filed I-130 (CR-1) with Vermont Service Center

[*]12-xx-2008 - 3rd Trip (4wks)

[*]06-05-2009 - Interview at 9:00am at HCMC Consulate (result: blue)

[*]07-08-2009 - Submitted RFE: Beneficiary's Relatives & Evidence of Relationship

[*]08-xx-2009 - 4th Trip (4wks)

[*]10-07-2009 - AP 91 days - Result: APPROVED!!

[*]10-31-2009 - POE: Detroit, MI

[*]11-18-2009 - Social Security Card

I just came back to VN last week. They always try to give me problem. They ask questions like...what your hotel address, what the phone number there, address?....I keep saying..."i dont remember..." over and over.

Eventually they let me go thru without paying. I am more worried for my fiance since she will be by herself...and might get intimidated by those boys.

They always ask "where are you staying...what's the address...what are you doing..." It's their standard questions. I usually have that ready (memorized) so I don't ever have any trouble getting through. :)

In four trips so far, I've yet to have a VN customs officer say a single word to me. Nothing. Not even "Hello". :blink:

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!

VN Custom officers have a lot to work on their "welcoming" attitude to travelers/visitors. I can't recall a single time they greet me with a simple "Hello" or "welcome to Vietnam, have a nice stay in VN or We appreciate you're bringing in the US dollars to our poor/broke country." Instead, they asked me "Why are you here? What are you going to do while staying here?". Not a good attitude towards someone's bringing them $$$$.

No wonder why their country is still ranked third-world country, 35 years after the end of the war. Almost every other Southeast Asia countries already move up the economic ladder ranking.

Just remember, life over there in VN is NOT real! Your money will be worth a LOT less once you get back over here. Back to reality, cowboy!
