My fiance will pick up her visa on 11/25. She did not get any sealed envelope right after the interview. She got back the xray after the interview but the envelope is opned.

1) Are they suppose to give her the sealed envelope with her visa when she pick it up?

2) is there issue leaving Vietnam?....are they (vn immigration officer) giving vn citizen hard time at the check point leaving tan son nhat?

She will get the envelope with the visa.

They may try to get some money from her by claiming there is a problem. The passport control guy tried that with Linh until she started getting loud and then waived her on. I guess it was close to coffee time. :)

what exactly did she said to get by check point?

Should my fiance just stuck $20 bill in there?

I see them take money all the time inside passport check point. Just did want SO to get in trouble for doing it

does she need to bring the big xray envelope?

The money issue is up to you. We did not offer money and they gave my wife a hard time, asking a lot of questions. She just kept answering them until the guy figured nothing was coming his way.

She needs to bring the sealed envelope and the x-rays with her in hand. Do not pack them in checked luggage.

When you get to the USA there are 2 lines to go threw one for USC and another line for non USC. If you are a USC and your wife comes over on a CR1 can you stand in the same line as her and check in or after you get threw can you wait over by the other line and help her? Is that also where you give them the sealed packager?

in dallas it was divided, permanent resident/USC and Non residents. You and your spouse can go in the USC line together to get processed at POE.

or you can go in the new immigrant line together to be processed as in SFO. depends on the POE. But, regardless of which line you choose to be in, stay together.

1. I couldn't remember, need to ask my wife but I'm at work now.

2. Oh yeah, that boy gave me a hard time, not my wife since we went together. Asks your wife, ready for CMND (Chung Minh Nhan Dan), they may ask. This is a stupid question that he asked me, "I needed a letter from Cong An Khu Vuc 'local police' saying that her name was withdrew from Household registration book 'Ho Khau' ". I kept blah, blah with him til he let me go "no coffee money".

Use the USC line if you are with your spouse at the POE, since only one declaration form is needed per family.

My husband said they gave him a hard time at Tan Son ... they asked if he reported to the local authorities that he was immigrating. At first he said yes, and they asked for his paperwork and then he said no. They said it was going to be a problem and he said how much will it take to resolve it. They said $40, he gave them $20 and they let him through.

Have your SO go report her departure to the local authorities and make sure she has a $20 to slip to them, just in case... :P

Thanks Linda...that's probably the easiest solution....if we got this far...another $20 wont matter.

How do you report to the local authority? I dont think its require by US standard

Since K-1 is technically a non-immigrant visa, it should not be a requirement... At this point she only has a 90 day visa to visit and possibly marry. CR-1 is a different story...

I don't think it really matters what kinda visa it is because they just want bribe/coffee money. You just have to notify the local police (Cong An Phuong) about your travel plans.

It's like us notifying the embassy or Dept of State of our travel plans...

My husband did say that he talked to someone later on the flight and she paid $80usd...tell your wife to act "stupid" and say she only bring a litle bit of cash ($20, $40) to travel with...I'm sure they'll take whatever she gives!!

I wonder if they will try it if I'm traveling with my wife? I'm worried they might try to ask for more.
