re: the mail.... Dan actually works in shipping and sends dozens/hundreds of packages every day. His recommendation is USPS. Above his normal job-related stuff, whenever he mails things personally to me, that's how he always sends them and we haven't had a problem yet. He says it's also, by far, the cheapest way. Not sure if you're sending from coast to coast, but from California to Ontario, Canada, is about $20-30 for an average sized package, and takes 1-2 weeks to arrive.

He actually says they try NOT to use FedEx.

I am shipping from Florida to Ontario. I just want to make sure my gifts get there before my future in-laws leave for their cruise!

oh yeah.. duh, I knew that... hahah I bet if you leave it a week, week and a 1/2 it would probably be ok. You can always get a tracking # too.

I am also considering driving down to Fort Lauderdale and giving them their presents in person. That's what I did last year when they sailed out of Miami.

Their cruise leaves out of Fort Lauderdale on the 19th.

But it's like 200 miles each way . . .

Arabella,

Depending on the weight of what you are sending to Canada seriously take a look at UPS. I gave up on USPS several Christmases ago when to mail the gifts to my family back home would cost close to $100 to send the box through the mail and it would take up to 10 days (although most first class mail averages about 2 weeks). UPS sent the box at the above mentioned quote for around $30 and it got there in 2 days - and I could track it every step of the way. Unless something weighs less than 4 pounds I don't use USPS anymore to send to Canada - it is just not worth the very expensive rate.

I was using $15 as my target.

If you got me, the budget is $25. :)

I was kidding on the above in case anyone took me seriously.

Can I please ask everyone to post whether they like tea or coffee? Any specialty teas or coffees? Thank you. :)
