Hey guys!

Lately I've been very nervous trying to make sure my fiance and I have all our documents in order for our interview in Rio, March 6th.

My co-sponsor sent my copies of her tax returns and they aren't official or anything. 2 of the years are written by hand and aren't typed or anything.

Is it o.k. to use these copies? I read we just needed copies and didn't see anything saying they had to be official from the IRS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

andy

As long as the copies are legible and had been signed by the cosponsor you will be fine. If you're still concern you can ask your cosponsor to request tax returns transcripts from the IRS. Those are official copies of tax returns and will serve your purposes.

In our packet, there was two sets of instructions for doing this and they varied slightly with each other, but from us they are getting signed copies of my tax returns even though they were filed electronically as well as a notorized letter from me stating that the tax returns are exactly as they were filed with the IRS.

Having your co-sponsor send a notorized letter that the returns are exactly as they were filed with the IRS should make them happy. Your co-sponsor may also want to include a notorized letter stating that they are aware of what they are doing and that they understand what is required of them.
