SSN for B2 visa

Hi All

I'm here on B2 visa and i'm planning to study here and for this reason i need to have a bank account here to apply to schools, when i approached the bank personnel they are asking for SSN or temp tax id for visitors. Where should i get it and whats the process and the documents needed?

I came here as a B2 and applied for F1 after several months.

You cannot apply for a SSN if you came here as a B2 visa. SSN is only issued to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and temporary (working) residents.

Get a taxpayers ID number. Not sure how to do it but I am sure someone here can inform you. You are not authorized to obtain a Social security number on a B2
