Ok my fiance is 18 turning 19 within a month.

I am currently filling forms out. And preparing them to be sent in.

Yes some may think im crazy cause of her age. I thought about it many times. *But I Love her & am Happy with her*

But honestly At the beginning Never imagined being with her.

But in time things grew into more & couldn't get her out of my mind.

She is a great person & honestly not looking for money Thank god.

But down to my question.

has anyone gone to the interview and know what they say about that age gap?

Specific tactical questions etc?

My fiance is very shy and that is about all that I worry about.

And what issues that may cross our paths.

Idea's Suggestions Greatly appreciated.

I did hire a lawyer for the papers as I have a few complicated issues. in my thoughts.

example Taking time to perfect paperwork. etc. a bit of money for help to get it processed and done is better then spending 6months on my own to make sure it's all perfect.

I was going to do it on my own. until i read a bit deeper...

Thank you.

My husband married her ex-wife when he was also 35 yo and the Filipina is also 19 yo... she got her visa and no problem about the age difference. You must prove that you have genuine relationship. There were Filipina who were denied because of the age difference nowadays, but around 40 years difference...

Some Filipina are mature at the age of 18 but some are not, my husband has a regret of marrying his ex-wife when she was 19 yo. She was not ready for married life, she didn't know what she wanted... she came here for marriage but few months afterwards forgot being a wife. Stole $300 at the age of 19 here in US, have bf in the Philippines, Have bf's in US, working but hardly share for the bills but bought all what she wants materially, has a nasty mouth, and got pregnant with another man. During the divorced wanted 50% of the house value which she never paid and her name was not even there. Since she is the wife as divorce settlement my husband is paying $10,000 of her student loan.

There are still young Filipina who has genuine heart to love a person, what happened to my husband might happen or not to others. Every one is different, but I do believe that there are many Filipina who has a genuine motives in marrying a foreigner and there are many Filipina who are good hearted

I suggest you bring at least 50 pics of you two with family and friends.

Also, bring a whole ream of printed emails and chats.

If she is good with english and she ans all questions without problem (ie: your work, your kids if any, your past marriage if any, your address in US) age should not come up at all.

Husband and I have 19 years of age gap... no age question was ever asked.

There's no need to send tons and tons of evidence for USCIS or NVC stage. Send just enough and bring everything on the date of the interview instead. It is the embassy who is more concerned about relationship validity rather than the USCIS or NVC. I'm not saying don't send any pics to USCIS, BUT don't over load it too much if your case is just simple and uncomplicated. (meaning... no previous arrest for domestic violence, or complicated issues about annulment and etc.)

what i have observed during my interview is that the file sent to NVC for the K1 petition is the same file that is forwarded to the US embassy for your interview. it will be the same file the consul will be referring to during your interview. so i would say at the very start of the process, you may want to establish that you have a real and legitimate relationship. and if it is possible, be there during her interview.

I agree... but they still asked for the same photos and documents... they're funny that way.

My petition was simple, put in a couple of pictures, record of hotel stay, husband's entry and extended stay in the Philippine, and the standard papers. THEN we brought all evidences of relationship during the interview.

Good advice, bashing ex-wife... not so much. Chill out!

hello! i was talking to another filipina during my medical exam at st. luke's way back june (it was her second medical exam since it took a year before they re-process her case again). she and her fiance had a big age gap. according to her, due to the age gap, her case was forwarded to the anti-fraud unit during her interview at the US embassy in manila. she was questioned for almost a day. i'd suggest you better come up with a lot of evidence of your existing relationship. my fiance (now my hubby) forwarded 4 inches thick document to the NVC when he filed k1 petition for me. we only have 1 year age gap. he printed all our emails and chats, skype call logs, snail mail, about 50 pics of us together (we met 3 times in person in span of less 10 months before he filed the petition). our case was approved in less than 5 months. i think it really helps if you have a lot of evidence to prove your relationship.

This is ridiculous! Was the girl 18 and the man 89? You really give no useful info here. Dozens of Pinays and Kanos with large age gaps get approved each week. Please be specific. Thanks.

Speaking very generally, yes girls/women from that part of the world tend to mature quicker. They have a better sense of family and are more responsible. They are raised with a stronger sense of value and obligation, a lot of which comes from being very poor. Having said all of that however, teenagers are teenagers no matter where you go! The same can be said of women too! They have the same wants and desires and the same tendancies. Just because they come from the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, etc., doesn't mean they're not still human females! In no way do I mean that derrogatory or as words of discouragement. Hell, I married a woman 15 years younger!! What I am saying is just because she's very mature for 18/19 doesn't mean she's NOT still just 18/19!! The age gap really isn't the issue at all. The "age" is. Only you can judge whether or not she's old enough or mature enough.

My wife is only six months younger than I am. Judging from what I've read on the VJ forums over the past few yea, our relatively small age gap seems to be the exception. :)

Thanks for the correction, it's a simple grammar which even other Filipina have the mistake, and we know the usage of her and his and it's not a big deal, this is a forum and some are asking for help, some responded negatively, but it's there personality. I do not want to level negatively, in a negative comment. I do believe what I write here has a point, there are many people who are sharing there time to respond as a help and I hope everyone be respectful and not to be rude whether we like it or not.

Sometimes it's so easy to comment because we are not in the position, then when we experience the same thing we will realize why someone reacted that way. I am not jealous because I have my husband... my point, he married a young girl and was not ready for married life, but I even pointed there that not all young woman are like that. I even pointed there that the age gap is not a big problem...

Thanks.

And what issues that may cross our paths.

example Taking time to perfect paperwork. etc. a bit of money for help to get it processed and done is better then spending 6months on my own to make sure it's all perfect.

I was going to do it on my own. until i read a bit deeper...

Thank you.

hello again. you may want to check this out -- http://travel.state.gov/law/citizenship/citizenship_757.html

THE MARRIAGE APPLICATION PROCESS:

Once the person has the affidavit, he/she can file the application for a marriage license at the office of the local Philippine Civil Registrar of the town or city where one of the parties is a resident. The U.S. citizen applicant will need to present the affidavit, death certificate or divorce decree as mentioned above, U.S. passport, and documentation regarding parental consent or advice if applicable. Marriage applicants who are age 18 to 21 must have parental consent in writing, those age 21 to 25 must have written parental advice (a written indication that the parents are aware of the couple's intent to marry). The revised Family Code of the Philippines, which took effect on August 4, 1988, prohibits marriage for individuals below the age of 18.

Normally there is a ten-day waiting period before the marriage license is issued by the registrar's office. In some instances the fiancée may apply in advance for the marriage license with the local civil registrar. The American citizen must then obtain the affidavit of legal capacity upon arrival in the Philippines and file it immediately with the civil registrar where the fiancée applied for the marriage license. A marriage license cannot be obtained by a fiancée without presence of the prospective spouse.
