Take a look at the following website---

http://www.moscowanimals.org/advice/import.html

scroll down to the middle of the page and it gives you all details of what must be done to take a dog/cat out of Russia. Read it VERY carefully because some things must be done AT LEAST a month before the animal leaves Russia... and some must be done only days before the animal leaves.

Any competent vet in Russia will be familiar with the regulations and will be able to guide your fiancee through the process.

Most state in the US will not allow you to have a monkey unless you have a special permit and facilities. And insurance.

This bothers me.. Can I bring my monkey in California? What about dogs, cats and parrot? Where can I find information about bringing my pets in the US? I'm willing to stay for a while until I acquire all my pets' passports. My fiance understands. Thank you.

Contact your state's Wildlife and Fisheries department to find out about the state and county regulations. The other consideration is the cost of traveling with that many pets. Airlines restrict the number you can have on board with you, dependent on size of course. You can travel with them in the hold, but there are restrictions on the times of year that you are allowed to fly depending on your destination and any transit locations (because of the weather).

As far as I know the parrot will have to be in the hold and cannot be on board with you.

Timeline Summary:

K-1/K-2 NOA1 - POE: 9 February - 9 July 2010

Married: 17 July 2010

AOS mailed - Interview : 22 November 2010 - 10 March 2011

ROC mailed - approved: 14 February - 18 June 2013

Citizenship mailed - ceremony: 9 February - 7 June 2017

Nix and Poppy,

For the parrot you will also want to look into any CITES regulations - some parrots require special export/import permits depending on their species. You can find out more information here to see if it something you need to address: http://www.fws.gov/international/DMA_DSA/P..._list_wbca.html

and here is specific information about importing birds: http://www.fws.gov/international/pdf/pe.pdf

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
