I see a lot of pro-federal government gibberish. We don't need more taxes. We need less government!

The feds don't have to tax it.

Legalize it then it has to be regulated because before you know it, John is suing the government because he got an STD.

The rational person knows that whatever the moral considerations, some people want sex that has no emotional context and they will get it, no matter what sanctions are in place. In many ways, creating barriers to try to prevent these people from getting this type of sexual contact is more likely to create criminal behaviour than prevent it.

The biggest problem I have with it is from the perspective of the perveyor of sex in terms of what sort of person considers prostitution a career opportunity. That's hard to reconcile for me as I really can't see how that fits very well with having a high self esteem and self worth.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Prostitution is a transaction between two private parties. What does the government have to do with your STD?

Can you "sue the government" if a private hospital infects you with an STD?

That's their problem, not yours.

I agree that it is but in a societal context their problem is my problem too, as it were ;)

How in the world did you get to that conclusion?

It's commerce and therefore under the government's jurisdiction as with any other legal business. Allowing them to conduct business free of taxes would cause an uproar among small business owners across this great country of ours.

Likes sex a lot? I don't think many prostitutes 'like' sex with their clients. However, I am not one of those people who can separate the sexual act from an emotional involvement with the person I have sex with, so I don't think I have the perfect perspective.

I actually view people who have sex outside of an emotional context as emotionally retarded which I think is probably a negative bias ;)

How do you know? Have you met a lot of prostitutes?

Most guys can. Many women I know can, too. Sex is just sex.

Yes, lawyers invented divorce. If it weren't for lawyers, no one would feel the need to divorce.

What we're saying here is that divorce lawyers are the pimps in this sex-for-fee transaction.

Sounds about right to me.

They're liable for income tax right now, even when the product/service they are selling is illegal.

Drug proceeds, organized crime proceeds, prostitution proceeds, etc.etc. ---- the IRS has no problem with any of that. They want their cut of all your worldly income, legal and otherwise.
