In advance, I'm sorry if I posted this to the wrong forum....couldn't figure out which would be best so I just posted here as it's the closest to the POE step.

-----

Since I am not going to the interview, nor am I going to go to India to fly back here with my fiancee. I simply cannot get the time off work, I've tried and if anything changes I will be on a plane lol. However, he's freaking over the border interview. So my question is, if I go to the POE will they allow me to go back to that area to be with him during all the things he has to go through?

If it matters, the most likely POE is going to be JFK, NY

Thank you in advance for your responses!

October 2011 - DCF filing rejected by overzealous employee at the embassy

December 2011 - Tourist visa denied (not surprising)

You won't be allowed back there. Just keep your cellphone on in case they call you.

I wouldn't worry too much about the POE, though. It's basically taking your documents and processing you into the country. There is no "interview". Very very few people have received a hard time. Unless the beneficiary has something to hide, or done something illegal, there's virtually nothing which will prevent him from being admitted once he has the visa.

Moving this thread from the US Embassy forum to the Moving to American forum. Good luck. :)

Thank you! He's been reading some things online and he thinks they are going to interview him all over again. He's so nervous and I keep trying to tell him he's nervous for no reason.

I think Rebeccajo answered a similar question recently, and in her (vastly more extensive) VJ memory, she could only think of two people on VJ who had issues at POE. One person was entering on a fiance visa and then referred to "his wife"

Most people coming here on other visas get turned away because of immigrant intent. Well, your guy's going to be holding a visa which says he's allowed to immigrate, so removed the 99.9999% of the barrier right there.

I read a lot of the JFK reviews, and all of them indicated that the immigration guys were all really friendly, so not to worry.

tell him they will only ask him basic questions, make sure he memorizes your address, because I know they ask that. well they asked me lol

Also, they will just ask him when you guys will plan having the wedding, they will also ask how you guys met, if he had ever been in the country, or if he has relatives, stuff like that. then i think he'll be asked about his name, age, birthdate, i think they asked me that at my POE. It's not like the embassy interview, so tell him not be so anxious :) so he won't freak out and end up saying the wrong thing lol

Good luck!

In a slightly unrelated tangent:

After the number of times that has to be written on the paperwork, I'm shocked if anyone CAN forget it...
